I'm digging through some old stuff to perhaps sell, found a necklace that is stamped 14k on one side of the clasp and SFG on the other. Any idea what that means? I found one thing online that suggests electroplated; but that is from an answers.com site and I cannot find anything else. Wasn't sure which forum to post this question in as I don't see a forum specific to gold.

I'm not an expert, but SFG is probably the maker's mark. I think that usually when the letters indicate that an item is gold filled or gold electroplated, the abbreviation immediately follows the karat notation on the same side of the clasp, such as: "14k GF" for 14 karat gold filled or "14k EGP" for 14 karat electro gold plating. But, like I said, I'm not an expert. Hopefully, someone in Trade can provide additional information.
