My ring is a solitaire. Is there a setting that sits lower than a tiffany setting. I don''t want to be knocking it into things. Or how would I find the different settings available for a solitaire.

Hi Laurie,
There are many settings out there. Would you like a six or four prong setting? In my experience I have found only that a four prong setting can be set really low.

There are lots of solitaire settings that sit lower than a Tiffany. Pearlman''s site has tons of settings, and you can search by type. Here is a link to their solitaire section. You can find some traditional solitaires that are just set a bit lower, and you can also look at cathedral settings, tension settings, bezel settings.

You can also check out Vatche. Good Old Gold carries their settings, and they make some beautiful solitaires with lower profiles.

Or you could get a setting like this one, note how the setting surrounds the diamond. Perhaps this will protect it a little better.

I'm looking too!
I perused Pearlman's selection a few days ago and didn't find anything right for me. I'm sort of afraid my culet will sit too low and look out of proportion.
I have found some inspiring Leon Mege settings {of course!

} that are nice and squatty and I LOVE his claw prongs.
Here's some I'm referring to:

It looks like this Scott Kay might be set low... hard to tell from the picture, but it appears to be.
