So, I recently made my very first purchase of loose gemstones
Here are the details:
1. Pink Namya spinel cushion, 1.5ct, 6.5 x 6 x 4.5 mm deep - lively and fiery despite a few inclusions near the girdle, could be covered by prong or bezel, or offset by halo (?)
2. Green tourmaline from Afghanistan, 3.11 ct, 8.7 x 6.6 mm deep, Portuguese RB - very sparkly!
3. Brazilian Citrine, Portuguese oval, 5.34 ct, 12.7 x 11.9 x 7.8 mm deep - clean. not that sparkly except in sunlight (looks more brown than gold in standard office lighting) but has nice color overall for the price..
My initial thoughts:
Spinel - maybe in 14k rose gold with a simple milgrain bezel with rope band? Or...... ? I would like to cover or minimize the inclusions.
Tourmaline - 14k yellow gold in a simple bezel ring, I kinda want to halo this one with white zircon but do you folks think that it may seem like a bit too busy since it's already a Portuguese-cut tourmaline? I guess my main priority would be to provide sufficient protection as it will be in a ring.
Citrine - it's kinda big... not sure if I should put it in a pendant, ring, or just hold off on it for now. no idea what to do with it.. maybe a cocktail ring..?
I would welcome any suggestions for settings that would help these stones really "pop" yet provide more protection. Thanks in advance for any advice!
