I am planning on getting a 1.26 carot diamond and was wondering if I should have it set in a 6 prong tiffany setting or a basket setting with 4 prongs (they said it would be safe enough) and it sits down more in the setting. I'm having 2 pear shaped diamonds set on the sides and don't know which setting to go with. (I'm getting a platinum setting)

As Lawmax said, "This comes down to preference, but if you lose a prong, you are at great risk of losing your diamond if it's sitting in a 4 prong. It has happened to people."Check out this thread: www.pricescope.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000376.html I guess 4-prong setting is safe enough (otherwise nobody would use it). It's more a matter of taste - what design you prefer.4 prongs make a round diamond look a bit like a square.
