Hi
im an independant diamond ealer, and am thinking of setting up a wesbite to sell loose stones....

whats the best way to go about getting access to a virtual inventory enabling me to offer a wide variety of stones to my clients.... what is the best way to go about that?
am in the process of looking for a suitable theme for the site.

thanks!

This a consumer to consumer forum you need to ask on the business forums on other sites.

You call up your regular suppliers and see what they offer in terms of ‘virtual’ inventory services. Many of them are happy to help. The problem is likely to be with your supply chain in the first place, not the color scheme of your website. Setting up a site where you offer things on virtual consignment in the hopes of collecting a commission if someone buys something does NOT mean that suppliers will flock to your door wishing to participate. That’s going to be about your business history, your creditworthiness, the talents of your staff, etc. If you’re currently a dealer you already knew this and, if you’re not you’ll run into it quickly.

If you’re not currently in the business, you’ve got a long uphill climb ahead of you and although we can always use more good jewelers, it’s nowhere near as easy as folks tend to think it is. A good place to start is to get your paperwork in order with your state/city and then show up at one of the major industry trade shows to talk to suppliers. There’s a big one next month in Las Vegas for example. Pick a supplier or 3 and become good partners with them. They’ll expand their offerings to you and others will become interested in working with you.
