Setting stones

I''ve been looking at a lot of loose stones and stone beads being sold on ebay and other jewelery supply websites. There are so many pretty pieces that I want to get started making jewelery with, but I don''t know where to turn to find out how to go from loose stones/beads to pendants or earrings and such. Any suggestions as for information resouces?

Hello, I just read your post and agree with you on starting out, I too have lots of beautiful loose stones and want to set them, I've been looking at the sanp tight settings and they look pretty good but I'm really not sure if I really want to use them, my question is... is there a site which you can use to identfy different stones, by color, sape and so on... if so where is it, Thanks for any and all help!
