Hi all,
I have been an obsessive lurker on this for ages. So I've chosen a Radiant (slightly rectangular), F, .90 GIA, EX-VG, incredibly sparkly. Love it. I have gone for a custom setting after looking at 100's of rings, off and online, couldn't find exactly what I had in mind. I'm in Pert, Australia and am using an excellent jeweler who comes highly recommended.
However, I wanted to ask your opinion on the setting...Gypsy in particular, and any other setting pro's out there.
I'll try and make sense while explaining what I'm going for.
Profile as in pics if you can see them - similar to an x-prong I believe?
Shoulders will be channel set with 4/5 tiny princess cuts.
*Slight* taper in on band at the center stone.
The metal piece holding the diamond in place is going to have 2/3 tiny diamonds, mainly because I didn't want that extra metal there but am going with safety over beauty for that tiny part.
If you can visualize this, I have two questions.....
1 - Does this sound good? I've seen CAD's, but it has been rough and not showing fine detail/precision.
2 - I'm after asking for tiny tiny diamonds....micropave I think to be added on the x part under the gead - not covering the prongs, but probably stopping just under the metal safety bit....is that called a donut>? Why do I have that word in my head?
Anyway sorry for the essay, I've just been getting freaked out reading a few posts that people who have designed their ring aren't happy with it. Any ideas gratefully considered......
