This whopper is mine, to be cut into an emerald cut stone estimated to be between 20 to 30ct by Jeff White.

I believe it is going to be too big a stone to wear as a ring even by my standard, and it is unlikely to see much daylight if it is a ring.

I toyed with the idea of a ring-pendant, however, I have difficulties in finding a setting that I like.

For example, much as I would love to set it in a ballerina ring setting, it will be way too big even for me!

Hence I am leaning towards a brooch pendant, for the reasons that I don't many significant brooches, and am likely to have more occasions to wear nice ones.

Here are some of my setting inspirations for a brooch pendant.

Please share your setting inspirations for this stone, thanks in advance.

I won’t be much help, but am so glad to see you are already planning. Of the settings you’ve show , I like the last one in that the stone does most of the speaking. Personally, a fair amount would depend upon the final cut pattern, saturation, etc. I’m already following with interest! Congratulations on the stone!

I like the first design which reminds me a little of a pocket watch, and the last design which is a little more minimalist but very artistic with the trailing ribbons.

I love the idea of a convertible pendant/brooch. The only one I’m not particularly keen on is the last one, so if funds allow, any of the diamond heavy settings will look amazing.

Oh I love #4 and #5 but with no pearls. This is going to be an amazing piece!

The pic that Jeff took at Tucson after he bought it.

I have purchased an Aqua from the bag in the top left hand corner.

Can't remember if I have requested for a pink stone from the other two bags without going through my e-mails, as I had commissioned a few pieces from him recently.

Nice! I can't wait to see the stone after it's cut, and after it's set. Wow!

I wonder if it could be convertible in more ways than the brooch/pendant options, to be more wearable for less fancy occasions too.

If so, one way would be to have it in a plain setting that's removable from the fancy diamond surround. It could definitely stand alone, whether in a pendant that's set N/S or E/W.

Another thought is to have it also be convertible to a bracelet.

ETA: I like the setting with the dark blue stone above best, but maybe with just the outer halo of diamonds.

I particularly like this one for a pendant design, simply because of the heavy diamond presence. :mrgreen2: This is going to be a showstopper, dk!!

What a beautiful stone! I am sure this will be beautiful. I love designs four and five, especially.
Have you seen this setting by Gary Roe for a 30ct tourmaline? I think you might enjoy a look :)

If I were to have this one made, the diamonds would need to be LGDs or Moissy!

Too flowery for my liking, sorry; however, thanks for the suggestion.

I don't like Belle Époque and Art Nouveau styles jewellery for the same reason.

There's nothing wrong with that, my friend! Bling is bling!! But a simpler design with less gem presence, to really show off the giant tourm, would also be lovely. ;-)

Maybe set east-west in a simple halo?

PCNEM03882-1-1.jpg

This would be my biggest CS to date, and also the most expensive - it cost more than my 1.19ct E VS1 EC diamond!

Hence I believe it deserves a grand setting; therefore, probably not a simple halo.

However, thanks for the suggestion.

DK :))
