setting help

I have finally narrowed down my diamond to a couple of different ones and have found a setting that I really like and I was just wondering something;

The setting is online (as well as the diamond - different vendor) I'm going to have the diamond sent to an appraiser - Should I then have the setting/diamond shipped to me and then find a local jeweller to set the diamond? After writing this it seems like a pretty stupid question, I guess it would make more sense that way I could watch the jeweller while it's being set.....

Still - any suggestions are appreciated!

Gee I really do not know on this one.

Maybe the mount goes to the appraiser and he has it set for you?

Ask the local jeweler who will set your diamond what his/her policy is should any damage occur during setting. Get it in writing.
