A decision has been made! BF and I would rather be engaged sooner than waiting for the money to be saved for the ''dream setting''. It''ll just have to wait. Sad, but the man is worth more.

So now I''m on the hunt for a plain old white gold setting. My eventual setting will be a paved band with halo, so going to a solitaire is quite the opposite. It will house a cushion of around .5 cts.

Where can I look? I searched Blue Nile, Abazias (which had the best prices), Whiteflash (where the stone might come from) and nothing really struck me. I''m trying to keep it as budget friendly as possible but want it to fit me too. Can you setting experts help?

Thanks so much! I''m lost!

sunnyd, what type of budget do you have?

Not more than $300 for the setting.

I know it''s not much, but I want something that I can use later on with a gemstone, so I need to like it, if that makes sense...

James Allen has a few very inexpensive settings if I remember correctly.

Aeromax recently got a Danforth Diamond setting and was happy with it: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/a-warning-to-would-be-ring-hunters.82730/

Danforth Diamond has some inexpensive unique settings... here is an engraved one (not sure if you like engraved or not...): http://www.danforthdiamond.com/engagement_rings/50/190/

http://www.danforthdiamond.com/engagement_rings/50/2530/ -- not every-one's "cup o tea" but its neat IMO

http://www.danforthdiamond.com/engagement_rings/50/3418/ -- another engraved one

http://www.danforthdiamond.com/engagement_rings/50/182/ -- another engraved one but more antiquey (lol)

http://www.danforthdiamond.com/engagement_rings/50/4654/ -- more traditional

If you can stretch the budget just a little you can get some side stones ($390): http://www.danforthdiamond.com/engagement_rings/40/2405/

Also, what styles are you looking for in a solitaire setting... that may help us search. ETA -- I saw that you wrote plain ole white gold setting, but why did you not like the plain ones you have seen so far? What "difference" are you looking for?

G/L with your search...

They''re not bad, but the diamond selection is not good. But I guess they can call in things like everyone else though, right? Maybe?

Not sure if this was directed to my post but...

Aeromax got his diamond from ERD (a good source for cushions too!) so you don''t have to get the stone and setting from the same place...

Hey posh, that was directed at neatfreak, but the Danforth settings weren''t bad either! I love love LOVE antiquey settings, so anything engraved would be awesome! Thanks for the links!

Here''s what my fiance liked when we just wanted a cheap setting. In fact now she has tried it on she loves it and would like it in platinum. $330 white gold, plain and simple but elegant from James Allen.

Just noticed your budget is under $300. James Allen do three other settings below $300 so still worth a look.

Hope you don''t mind if I use your pictures as inspiration! So GOG does ''inexpensive'' customs like that? ...hmmmm.
