My boyfriend purchased an engagement ring almost a year ago, and unfortunately for me, he has still yet to propose--yes, he is one of those guys

I have only been allowed to see the ring a couple of times, one of which was this past weekend. My younger sister is leaving the country to do humanitarian work, and we will most likely get engaged while she is gone. Being the adorable guy that he is, he thought I should be able to show off my ring to her before she left.

Well, while scrutinizing it this weekend, I noticed that the prongs looked a little wonky. Upon closer inspection, the shank looked not completely straight either. I only took a couple of photos, as I really want to save the great photos for my SMTB thread when we are officially engaged.

Can you tell from the following photos if something looks off? I did work with a PS vendor, but don't know if I can do anything since it has been so long since he purchased the ring...

If needed I can take a few more shots, but I haven't really gotten the hang of taking good photos yet.

I appreciate your help!

The prongs on the right side looks a little funny but to be honest I can't really tell with those two shots you have. I would think we would have to look at it face up or you can just take it to a jeweler and have them look at it. You would have to check that particular vendors warranty and give them a call to see what they can do about it if indeed something is wrong. Maybe you just have the PS syndrome from waiting in anticipation for so long and viewing all the beautiful rings on here lol.

Here are a couple of photos from the front that better show how the prongs don't look evenly spaced and how the shank looks like it might not be perfectly aligned.

That is quit possibly true! I have thought about sending it to one of the more highly-respected appraisers on PS to get their thoughts... If nothing el it will be another opinion if it does in fact need to be fixed.

It does look a little off. The shoulders don't look lined up and the prongs look crooked. My OCD would definitely need that corrected, but others probably won't notice at all. Since you havent even worn it, i would definitely look to get it repaired where you had it made. Beautiful ring though :)

Thanks for your feedback! I'm hoping that the vendor will also agree that since it hasn't been worn, that they should fix it... It definitely isn't something that I caused!

Yeah those prongs are definitely off. Are you sure that your BF didn't damage it in someway within the past year. I know that we can be a little rough and careless with jewelry sometimes.

Yeah, I'm sure. It's been in our safety deposit box since we got it. Hs gone to check on it a couple of times, but that's it.

Ok then I would definitely give them a call but check out their warranty policy on the site before hand. Hopefully one of the resident experts will chime in I think they are all in the big cushion thread lol.

I think so, too! I hope some of the pop over and offer some advice! I feel Ike they will know wht is acceptable to ask the jeweler to do.

I agree, it could use a bit of tweaking. It would be awesome if they fixed it gratis but I wouldn't hold it against them if they didn't. It's been almost a year so they are likely under no obligation to do so. The time these inspections is during the return period. Maybe they'll pleasantly surprise you though, who knows.

I agree that it looks like it could use some tweaking. I would contact the vendor and ask, but like sonnyjane said, I wouldn't hold it against them if they don't. It's a beautiful ring though, you must be going crazy waiting to 'officially' wear it!!

Thanks sonnyjane and Christina. I think I'll try to contact the vendor today and see what they say. I'm so picky, I'm afraid this is something that I will see and will bother me every time I look at the ring. If they say they can't/won't fix it for free, I may have to spend the money and have a new ring made. Although I will say, as much as I love the design of this ring, I'm not sure ill go with the same vendor--I don't want this to happen again!

It only took me a quick glance (and I am usually one of the ones going, "what? huh? ")
I can totally see what you're talking about and I hate to say it,
but
that would bother me TREMENDOUSLY !!!!

ESPECIALLY the way the band looks "crooked"

I do love your stone and that type of setting is one of my
personal favorites, however !!!!
I know when it's tweaked it is going to be a knockout !!!!

Yes, from the additional photos you posted, it does look a little off. However, I must admit, I'm having trouble understanding why someone would purchase a ring, allow you to play with it from time to time, and then say that he's not "ready" yet. That would drive me crazy! Anyways, I wish you luck with the vendor - I hope that you get your issues resolved :)

Thank you for confirming what I thought!

Mom happy, I know it's strange, and it does drive me crazy at times, but we have a great relationship and I'm confident in that.

Oh, I certainly didn't mean to imply that there might be something wrong with your relationship. I have just never heard of that type of scenario before (where a guy buys a ring, lets you see/touch it, but then waits to propose). I'm sure he's just waiting for the perfect timing :)
