Hi all,

Recently bought a 1.11 H/VVS2 stone. I'm looking to get it set in a custom-made pave setting. The person that I've been working with sent me a few 3D mock-ups. I'd appreciate any and all advice!

Thanks for the feedback

Thanks for the response! Yes, I've been working on making the ER so that a WB sits flush, and will be custom-made as well. Luckily for me, the person I'm working with (Sevan at AST, http://astjewellery.com/) is amazing, and he's keeping the WB in mind when designing the ring.

What do you mean add stones to the other profiles of the head basket? Do you mean 'surprise diamonds'?

And is the 5 and 7 necessary? Will you even see that far down the ring? I want the diamonds to end where her fingers meet, and there's no point of her fingers rubbing against diamonds OR for extra diamonds that are not visible to be on there as it just adds to the price. Or am I wrong?

Definitely go from 7 to 5 o'clock. It is definitely worth it. I'm just not a fan of the half.

I'm assuming they will shave down the prongs and claw them?

I'm not sure but do you have pave on the prongs too? It looks like you might in the first picture.

Gorgeous design! This is be amazing when it's complete especially with a pave matching WB. I agree to bring the diamonds a little further down on the shank. I agree with the 5 and 7 o'clock position. It'll definitely be worth it. For the wedding band, perhaps go full eternity. This way when it spins on your finger, diamonds will always be showing!

Yep, he's going to claw them, and he also told me that he'll shave the sides of the prongs to make them as thin as he can while still keeping the strength that's needed to hold the centre diamond. There's no pave on the prongs themselves, they'll be just WG - my gf doesn't like (at least, I don't think so) halo or other designs that have small diamonds around the centre one - the way it'll be set in this setting will hopefully give a bit of separation.

I'm not sure yet what the WB will be (half or full eternity), but luckily I won't be deciding alone on that one! :D That is, if she says yes when I pop the Q  All I know is that I'll go to Sevan again and he already has a few designs in mind for that, plus he's designing the ER so that spacers won't be needed and it'll sit flush.

Would you be able to expand on the benefits of 5-7 vs half? Would the pave also start lower on the ring (further away from the RB) and end lower, or will it just require an extension of the pavee downwards? I personally figured that diamonds that you can't see are a waste. Then again, I'm brand new to rings...

Cheers all!
