Hi,

A local Jeweler who makes their own settings told me that since Platinum has risen in price if they made me a new setting to fit my girlfriend (size 6 3/4) it will cost more than if I take the stock setting (size 6 - I think) and they stretch it to a size 6 3/4.
Now when I think of stretching something, it doesn''t seem right. If I wanted a size Large t-shirt, I wouldn''t want the store to stretch a medium shirt to a large.

What do you guys think?
Look for another Jeweler or is this common?

its pretty common to resize stock settings it depends on the design and the thickness of the ring if its ok or not.
Some designs cant be sized and others get too thin if you do so.
3/4 a size isnt huge iv had stock settings resized up 4 sizes for fun rings where it didnt matter if they were a little thin.
So in general its my opinion that it isnt a problem a lot of the time as long as its done well.

this is very true. platinum has gone up substantially. the same ring made only a few months ago would cost much more to make today. you are better off with the stock setting.

except that rings are made to be sized. it is done all the time.

there is nothing unusual about what the jeweler is proposing. if you love the setting, get it and have it sized.

Thanks guys - just checking with my PS crew.
