Setting dilemma

Hello,

So some of you might remember that I bought a 2 carat MRB from Frank Darling in one of their flash sales. I was planning on setting with side baguettes and someone very helpfully suggested getting a CZ version to see and I am so glad that I did as I don't love it!

My heart wants to set it in a cushion halo, however here is the dilemma! 3 years ago I wanted to upgrade my engagement to a round in a cushion halo, long story short but all the pictures I saw that I loved had large centers but I didn't have the budget for that, as at the time i was looking at mined diamonds! I went with what fit my budget and got a .08 round in a double halo and while I do like the ring I find it a bit busy and it was not at all what I originally liked! Next attempt I had found lab diamonds and got a 1.3 lab in a halo with side baquettes that I do love but still feel like something is missing! I put it down to DSS and bought the 2 carat thinking that would give me what I wanted but now I am not so sure! At this point I have spent more on all these resets and rings than I would have originally if I had got what I wanted!

So do I set the 2 carat in a cushion halo like I wanted originally, in which case I will now have three halo rings! Maybe looking for a preloved setting might be an option!
Do I stick with the oval halo and see if I can put my finger on what i feel is missing with that, maybe its another stacking band?
Do I hold off for a while until I can be sure that the ring I do eventually make is what I want? I have two other smaller rounds from my original ring that i could do a three stone with but as my origional was a three stone I feel like going back to one is a waste of all the money I spent on the other rings!

I know only I can ultimately decide but I know a lot of you feel my pain (in a first world sense!) so any feedback would be appreciated! I suppose I dont want to end up spending more money setting it in something I dont love!

Anyone have a 2 carat or close in a halo or three stone that could share pics? Feeling very stuck on what way to go!

Wow, that is beautiful! Very unusual and striking! Your center setting is the kind of look I like but in a halo version if that makes sense. This is just a stunning piece.

I am having a 5 stone made with lab diamonds. The center is a 2 ct LB lab stone. I don't have it yet but have some CAD pictures I could send if you are interested I can post them.

You need to go try a bunch of things on until you find what you love. Don't move forward with a setting until you've figured it out.

It's been a while since your post, but I'd like to add some information.
I understand your struggle with choosing a setting. One cool trick I've used before is a coin flip generator. It's simple and takes the pressure off. You assign each option to a side of the coin flip generator it, and let fate decide. It's like giving your decision-making muscles a break. Plus, it adds a bit of excitement! Give it a try and see if it helps ease your dilemma. Remember, there's no harm in leaving things up to chance sometimes. You might be surprised where it leads you!
