Hi everyone! I think I am getting so close to being confident in the direction I’d like to take for my forever setting. I have a 1.5 carat RB that I will be resetting. My current setting has tapered baguettes. It’s beautiful. But it’s set very high and very delicate. I would like something lower and more substantial. But I don’t want over blingy (I know. The horror!) so these are my inspirations.
I like the shape of this sholdt setting

I like the detail of this antique ring.

I will be pairing the setting with my 7 stone shared prong band.

What designers would y’all recommend I reach out to? I don’t really have a budget in mind because I am not sure what is reasonable. But probably no more than $3000?

Hmmm...you've kind of got two different taste going on...the Sholdt is more contemporary with clean lines...love. The others are antique repros (also love).
Are you resetting the OEC in your avatar or is it a round brilliant?

Looks like they pretty much all have a reverse tapered shank in common.

I honestly just like the shape of the sholdt. It’s a RB! I am way more drawn to antique settings.

@tyty333 in a perfect world, I would love to have an OEC in one of these settings and then set my RB in a chunky modern halo. But those are bling dreams I can’t make happen right now!

I've always liked this on at JA but it is a bit blingy

Gotcha on the antique setting...looks like you want a shank with reverse taper. The one I just posted isnt really antique-y but does have
some milgrain on it to give it a little bit of an "old feel".

I have looked at that JA setting a lot. I contacted them and they wouldn’t send me just the setting. They said I have to send in my diamond and have it set and have the entire ring sent to me. And because it is a little on the blingy side, I am a little afraid to commit to it.

I like the Vaila setting by Maevona - the one w/ sidestones (there is also a plain one). It's a bit vintagey looking w/ a sort of modern edge. The pic looks like a CAD, but their stuff is much prettier and more delicate in real-life photos.

Because you said you want to pair it with your seven-stone band, be aware that these reverse-taper settings might create a "gap" between the shanks on the palm side of your hand.

Not sure that'd even be a problem, but in case it hadn't occurred to you.
