So I bought a chameleon diamond! Fancy Grayish Yellowish Green. 0.31 ct, I1, strong yellow fluorescence.

I've not received it yet but am daydreaming about it. Are there professional Jewelers or collectors who could give me advice on following?

1) It was priced lower then comparable stones. I'm curious what is the fair price for it.

2) I am thinking to put it in a single earring stud. What metal color will work the best: Yellow, Rose Gold or Platinum?

I* would put it in white metal from just watching the video. Seeing it in hand and in different lighting could change my opinion.

I would go rose gold, I think that'd make it a show stopper.

I would choose YG or RG.

I am doing this right now. Making a ring for myself with a chameleon center stone. Also, I design pretty much only with FCDs. The rule in general is there is no rule as you will not know for sure until all is done how your stone will react.

That said. General rule for green is to set it in yellow. Mine will be set in yellow but it depends on so many factors. I have found that while yellow makes the green pop, rose gold does even more so if possible. My stone is more yellow than yours; yours has the bluish grayish hues that could work in any metal color. I still think I would do rose for this second choice being yellow.

You can always get foil in gold, rose gold and silver color or use your existing rings if you have those and play with different colours to see how it might turn out :)

In my experience these look attractive in rose gold.

RG or YG
