I like the classic nature of the Whiteflash setting. The stone is set a tad higher w/ more profile. As an extra plus, it's less expensive.

Have you tried a six prong setting w/ an eternity band? I'm not sure they would fit flush - but I don't know.

Also, is it still customary to engrave the wedding band w/ date, etc on the inside? With an eternity band w/ diamonds all the way around - you can't. One can never forget the anniversary date that way. Well, it's pitiful if you forget in the first few years - but after 20 years your brain isn't as sharp.

scapel,

I prefer Whiteflash's Tiffany style more so than the Solstice from Supercert. Also, the price for the Supercert ring will be somewhere in the $700 range for the 1+ ct diamond that you are contemplating versus your listed price of $650. I like the knife-edge style of the Tiffany styles.

So not only do you have to consider the styling but $700 versus $300. The price difference is not insignificant.

HiFire&Ice, Magna2, thanks for your opinions.
I too like the classic look of the whiteflash tiffany (and more than half the price) but worried that the setting may be too high? I heard that if it's too high, it won't look as nice. As far as the eternity band, you're right, it won't sit flush, but I think my girlfriend is okay with that.

Have any of you actually seen the whiteflash setting?
Thanks!

Here is my penny worth... I like the Whiteflash too, especially with the HUGE diamond they present which makes it look so classy. Otherwise, it shows how much it costs. The other setting looks quite special to me, while a bit overpriced. As for how high the diamond will stand: the Whiteflash version does appear to set the stone higher (which is much easier technically), but whether this is good or bad it surely is a matter of taste.

One thing appears clear: the price difference. The two settings do not appear 150% different, while their prices are. However, there are so many versions of the Tiffany style out there, that it does sound a bit hasty to base your choice on the price difference between these two. The only kind of diamond I would put in the cheap setting is a huge stunner so that no one would care anymore what is it sitting in!

To be honest, I also don't find them different enough to justify the extra $250.

I also would do the WF though I do like the SC one as my head is a 4 prong solstice (looks very similar) and I adore the look. But not for the additional money. You may want to upgrade the setting later and keep the stone or similar anyway. If you are going basic for the setting--stick with really basic!

Check out the post today from 'afriend' who just put a 2c stunner into a WF tiffany style, amazing pictures.

Also as the others note, keep in mind the flushness of the wedding ring against a low-set type head on the e-ring, if you want them to sit flush, they may not. You may need to get more of a cathedral style in order to get the flushness.

Good luck!
