We are looking for a setting for a 1ct RBC and cant seem to agree on setting or the price for a diamond and here we are. She wants a halo setting with stones all over the setting. I think a busy setting like that will keep the focus away from the diamond and prefer a simpler setting. She left the choice of the rock for me but does not want to spend more than 5k on it. I think she should have an ideal cut G/VS2 or better and am willing to spend up to 8K for the stone. I can easily get her to agree on the higher budget so what will be a good setting and rock combination for roughly 8-9k? Also appreciate a reliable jeweler in the Seattle area that can help if needed and I am ok with online retailers as well. Thanks in advance.

Congratulations on the engagement!

I feel you should get your girlfriend the setting that she wants since you want her to absolutely love it and she will be the one to wear it. You'll find that women value different things when it comes to their e-rings. Some want a large stone, some want a blingy setting, some want simple, but what's important is that it reflects her and is what she will feel proud and happy to wear. I think going for a quality stone in the setting of her choice could satisfy both of you.

Here's an example of a "simpler" halo setting due to the plain shank. It may not be her style, but I think it's very elegant and not overly blingy as far as halos can go.

Here's some possibilities for around a 1 ct G VS2 that would be so beautiful. The "A Cut Above" line are the top of the top stones on Whiteflash's website. There are certainly other great stones through other vendors, but this is a start.

I absolutely love my blingy halo. And personally I really think the center stone shines above the rest of the stones, which provide subtle sparkles. There are many different ways to halo when you get right down to it. :-) My center is 1.03 so right at your target size. When I look down at my ring, I see the center first and foremost. The way the halo is designed, it adds interesting detail and dimension, but doesn't take away from the center.

Here is a link to my original post about it. https://www.pricescope.com/communit...-my-new-james-allen-twisty-halo-reset.210095/. I never thought the pics I took give it justice, but they were the best I could take using an iPad or iPhone. I recommend you look at the James Allen site for a clearer picture of the ring. They have gorgeous new photos on their website now.
