Setting a round, brilliant cut diamond...

Hi, we recently had a round diamond set into a bezel, halo mounting. After wearing the ring for a week, I've noticed that the bezel around the diamond is mildly uneven (Thinner on one side than the other) and that the stone was not "squared-off" so-to-speak. That is, none of the facets that form "squares" on the top of the diamond are lined up in a "north-south-east-west" manner. I've never had a round diamond set like this and the overall effect for me is a somewhat lop-sided, misshaped center stone.

I've attached a picture from my phone, though it's hard to say if it's really effective at showing what I'm talking about.

Am I going to sound crazy if I go in and ask for it to be reset??

Nope, the orientation of the stone is up to you. I'm sure the jeweler would have liked to have known your preference beforehand but you probably never thought about it until you saw it set. I'm sure that happens often.

Your ring is lovely though!
