Hello -

I just now received my work order from Leon for the creation of my engagement ring. The stone is an ideal cut RB 2.68 FVS2.

I recently came upon a thread on here that discussed stone setting, and mentioned that ideally prongs should not be set in such a way as to interfere with the appearance of arrows. Can anyone elaborate on this? Is this something that I should stipulate to Leon in setting my stone? Is it worth mentioning?

Thanks!

Hi Bem,

Congratulations! Sounds like it will be a stunning ring.

I think what people are talking about is setting the orientation of the stone such that the tips of the arrows are not covered by any of the prongs. Theoretically (I think this is the reason) some of the performance may be affected? But only in PS land would this be a major concern

Anyone that knows more please chime in!

Oh and do NOT forget to share once it''s done!

It seems to be a matter of preference how the arrows are aligned, to the best of my knowledge how they are aligned does not affect performance.

You are not really focused on arrows once a stone is set. I honesty don't think I'd tell Leon this. It won't maximize performance in any way. It is a mental thing to want the arrows lined up a particular way. So if you think it might worry you, then ask him about it.

Just wanted to add that your diamond sounds fabulous!!!
