Setting a 1 ct diamond as pendant

Hello,
I have a 1 ct diamond I'd like to set as pendant. I am thinking of a WG bezel setting on an omega chain, but I'm not sure as I haven't seen many diamond solitaire pendants, so I probably need to see examples. I suppose the best way to proceed is by going to a local jewelry designer? In Canada where I live I only know Birks and was wondering if anyone has recommendations.
Thanks a lot.

Thanks so much, lookinagain!

When you say bezel, do you mean as a necklace? Or do you want a separate pendant that you can use on different chains? I'd almost stay away from an omega, because I feel that the diamond will look more important on a delicate chain.

Don't hate me, but there are 8,000+ on eBay, if you just want to look at what's out there and get ideas.

Agreed.
Diamond solitaires are everywhere - have you done a basic Google search, OP?

Hi Ennui! :wavey: thank you, I meant as a necklace, yes. I thought of an omega chain because I like them, but apparently the diamond would be more likely to flip on an omega chain. You are right that a delicate chain will give the diamond more focus.

I know there's lots on the Internet, for that same reason it's almost too hard to look online :-/

But those threads were very helpful. After reading those and a few more threads on PS I think I may go for a Barbara pendant. I talked to Jamie from BGD and she says I can mail her my stone and they can do a re-cut evaluation (see if it's worth it) and re-set on the Barbara pendant, which has a bezel but doesn't cover the back of the diamond. It would be on a 1mm fine cable chain, but I'm told I can always change the chain if I want to (but that the pendant is more likely to flip on a thicker chain).

Thanks momhappy, I agree, I did search on Google, but there's just too much stuff -- the threads were great because people were discussing different settings and other things like flipping issues, and they also have links to more useful threads.

^Yes, that's true - it is helpful to have some more detailed info (like if certain styles flip, etc.).
I have a 1.5 carat bezel set round in yellow gold and a smaller emerald cut bezel set in rose gold, which is good for layering with other necklaces. I don't think that I have an issue with either one of them flipping around too much.
Good luck on your search for the perfect fit for you =)

BGD's Barbara bezel is awesome. I have a .4ct in that setting and it never flips. It slides beautifully on their chain. I did however pay extra for a longer chain. Their standard length is 16" but I like 18" better.

Post pics when it's done!! :appl:

Thanks UrsTx, that's good to hear :-) I will definitely post pics, it may take a while before it gets done though.
