I pulled the trigger on a stone a month ago; full specs/images here LINK - it did have borderline cut concerns but I was happy with the idealscope and proceeded.

I had the stone set into a custom designed setting very similar to Tiffany/ Vatche U-113, 90/10 plat/iridium.
When the loose stone arrived, I looked it over very thoroughly, took it out of the store for hours and tried various light etc and was extremely happy with the sparkle and fire of it.
Now I briefly viewed the completed setting, at the time looking it seemed quite good (there was a minor design problem so they are actually going to need to remake the whole thing - the prongs on the side cover the stone more than I asked for, I asked them to be very thin and 'deep' to allow the stone to be seen more side-on). I took some photos, and reviewing them later I thought the stone looks dark from top down - not sure if it was the lighting conditions, but photos below. Is this possible that these are just bad photos, and I am overreacting, or could it actually somehow be darkened based on angles and the setting etc? What do you all think? Could the prong issue be causing darkness?
