WOW!!!! $50,000 for a diamond!!!!! That is alot of money!!!

I personally, would consider this diamond instead of the BN one, because of the quality of ACA diamond and WhiteFlash has a lifetime upgrade policy and the price is less. Just my opinion.

I have seen the ACA large diamonds in person and they are gorgeous and they face up so white!! In fact, when Brian ask us what we thought the color of the diamond was, we say it was a colorless (D, E, or F), we were wrong, it was an I.

http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-71343.htm

Dont forget, WhiteFlash gives a 5% discount for a bank wire and being a PS member.

Good Luck and tell us what you decide

Whew...I wouldn''t want to live with that monster on a daily basis. Gorgeous, but huge.

Welcome to PS.

This may be a nice choice, 60 60 diamonds do have their fans and many love them! It is facing up a tad small, more like a 3.15 ct. BN do have a good return policy so if you don''t like it you can return it, have you looked around to see what some of the other online vendors can offer? For that chunk of change, I would shop around before pulling the trigger to get the best cut I could get, even perhaps dropping the colour a grade or 2 to an F or G perhaps.

I would have suggested the opposite approach! At nearly a whole centimeter across, that diamond risks looking cartoonishly huge. Aside from appearance issues, it also may not be that practical to wear day to day.

If the OP is set on spending $50k, and wants to get the best possible for that price, I'd suggest dropping the size to ~2.75 carats and increase clarity. I know the typical wisdom here is to for an ideal-cut, eye-clean diamond with the most size. But in my opinion, there's such a thing as a terminal size, and it might be worthwhile for some to spend extra on a more mind-clean diamond after that size is reached.

Just my .02.

That is some serious money you are spending. (someone''s lucky!) While as Lorelei said, 60/60''s do have their fans, they lack a bit overall. Unless you know this is specifically what you/she (not sure who''s posting) wants, I would also go with Lorelei''s suggestion. Drop the color to F or G even, but get a great CUT. Can''t stress that enough. And that will give you a nice mix of brilliance, fire and scintillation.

Also, if you dropped to just a tad under 3 cts., it would help a lot pricewise, and you will lose nothing visually.

Well, I can''t speak for everyone, obviously; and, indeed, I said there was a risk of looking cartoonishly big. I think a lot would depend on finger size, but no matter what, a 3+ carat round brilliant is gigantic! I only point this out in case the OP hasn''t actually witnessed first-hand the size of such a diamond. For many, I wager, it''s too big.

It is worth noting that in this instance the diamond is actually facing up a bit small for it''s weight, more like a 3.15, so some of the extra weight is hidden anyway, but it does depend on personal preferences what size is best as you say. I guess to be dropping such a large chunk of change on a diamond, the OP has an idea of the size of this weight, or I would hope they do!

This is exactly what I was suggesting. The IS is beautiful, it looks like it could be eyeclean, and it''s not far from the 3 ct. mark. If I were looking at what you are, I''d be all over this one.

Well... I'm not one of the size whores around here and... I've tried on a few three carat rounds. I could get used to that too.

Now THIS is what I consider cartoonishly huge (11 carat we tried on at the last SF GTG)

I know there are some who would wear that, but being a somewhat modest size gal myself, that is just butt ugly to me.

I can''t believe it even had sidestones. The center stone already covered the entire finger!

Hi Jackj-- I must admit that the stone caught my eye because it shares some of the same personal "sweet spot" traits for brilliant cuts as the main stone in my e-ring (E, SI1, medium blue fluorescence... yum!). As pretty as it sounds, the Q I''m wondering is if you are buying this for a future fiance, are you sure that she likes extra-large rounds? For many people (but not all, thank goodness ;-) ), there''s a cutoff point at about 3 carats at which round brilliants become too flashy; for instance, at that size I''d rather get a step-cut fancy shape or even a classic pear. [For instance, compare the reaction to the 10-carat posted on this thread to that revealed by a quick search of the 9-carat EC beauty posted by diamondfan (if memory serves... I''m a bit of a newbie to posting).] Of course, you know better than I do what your girl''s preferences might be, but I just thought I''d put it out there!

I don''t think that is too large if that is similar to her friends and her social circle. When i go to Palm beach, Nantucket, certain parts of New York, I only see HUGE stones! I''ve tried on 3 carat rings and larger and to be honest, they don''t seem that crazy to me. it also depends on her job and what she does recreationally though. i have a ring that might be anywhere from 3-5.5 carats (
20.gif
i know i need an appraisal) and it isn''t cartoonishly large. Not like that 11 carat ring!
