Seriously, I am doing my own head in with trying to make this decision.

Wink and Melissa from HP Diamonds have the patience of saints but I need to make this decision and I need to make it now! I have seen all the videos and have all the information that I need but I just can't decide.

Please help me choose. Whilst I understand I am so spoilt for amazing choice, I just can't make the final decision and I don't know why.

Finger size for those playing along at home is 4 - 4.25

2.35 = cheapest, smallest, best clarity https://www.hpdiamonds.com/en-us/diamonddetail/HPD9789
2.52 = good middle of the road choice that satisfies my desire to crack the 2.5ct mark although only faces up 5% bigger than the 2.35 so is the extra money really worth it to go down a clarity grade? https://www.hpdiamonds.com/en-us/diamonddetail/HPD9231
2.74 = biggest, best colour, clarity not as good as the others but is eye clean, worried this will be too big/sit too high on my finger. https://www.hpdiamonds.com/en-us/diamonddetail/HPD9329

If you were faced with this wonderful dilemma, what would you choose and why?

I am happy to get down on my hands and knees and beg for your help with this.

Thank you if you got this far!

I guess for me it would depend on what is eye clean. Can you see any inclusions without a loupe if you really look? If so then for me I’d skip that one. Other than that based on the info you gave I couldn’t choose between the other two.

Are you upgrading from a smaller diamond and if so what size? Have you ever tried on a 2.74 or there abouts diamond? From knowing absolutely nothing, I vote the 2.52 because it's a good size on your small finger and it compromises the clarity. If you are after size, size, size then of course the 2.74!

Thanks @Lookinagain I have been assured it is eye clean from the top from 10 inches and from the side, if you hold the stone in front of a window and hold it just right, you can just see it from the side.

Here it is magnified to see the inclusion - that little line!

@JDDN it is an upgrade! I’ve tried on 2.5s and 3s. Which one would be more practical on my finger for daily use... probably the smaller ones but I appreciate the rarity in the size of the 2.74. There is an overall 10% face up difference from the 2.35 to the 2.74!

This stone will be the biggest of my social circle by far and I guess that consideration needs to be made!

I’d go for the 2.74.
Why?
My take - unless the colour is so “tinted” that it disturbs you (some can’t tolerate lower than H, others will crawl across broken glass for a mysterious M color) or the inclusions are big they look like a small insect drowned there, only SIZE matters.

What are you going up from? Well, if you like the idea of the rarity of the 2.74 you need to decide if you'll truly feel comfortable wearing it everywhere you'd want to wear it. If the answer is yes, then I say go for it. Will you feel weird if family or friends comment or stare? Some totally don't care about that and more power to them. Just putting those questions out there ;)2. If you like size then get the 2.74 because DSS is real :lol-2:.

I don’t have issues with clarity. It helps me I’d my stone esp Bc I’m a serial resetter. Lol. I say go big! Love the G color. And don’t worry about your social circle. They won’t be able to gauge the difference between a 2.35 and 2.75. But you will! And this is about you.

@JDDN thanks for the questions. It helps alot. I do have a blingy right hand ring - 1.3 cushion surrounded by a 3 point pink diamond halo and then a 1 point white diamond halo... on a pave band so my friends and family know I like bling, I'm just the blingiest of the lot and I do love diamonds!!! Alot!!

I will be going from a 40 point set on a channel set band which has a matching 20 point that fits with it (swirl type ring) and then I wear a princess cut channel set ring with it all so it does take up a lot of finger real estate, without huge diamonds though.

I think the height will take some getting used to but will 0.2mm make a noticeable difference between the 2.52 and 2.74, I don't know.

@nala I won't be telling people how big it is when they ask... except to say hubby got sick of all the upgrade talk so got the biggest one he could to shut me up!

I would go for the largest. You are looking at gorgeous stones, but to me the largest provides the best color and although clarity is lower, it is still an eye-clean stone! You probably won’t feel the need to upgrade with this one for a while and that is another plus for me.

I would be fine with that. I say go for it!

Go big. The inclusion is like the unicorn of inclusions around here (small, white, can be covered by a prong, eye clean at 10”), and I think otherwise you’ll have DSS quickly if you choose the smaller one after looking at one so significantly bigger.

Can you get a picture of all 3 together? Sometimes that is helpful. I say the 2.74...DSS sets in fairly quickly and you dont want that nagging feeling in
6 months that you should have gone with the larger stone. Go with the larger stone now!

I'm with @tyty333. If you can show a photo with the 3 of them side by side that might help clarify things in your mind. However in lieu of that I choose the largest diamond. The 2.74. As long as the SI is eye clean to you.

DSS is real and it is swift (for some of us hehe) and go as big as you want or think you might want because believe me it will appear less big with time. Do it now if you have the funds. You're upgrading so upgrade all the way baby.:appl:

Of course YMMV and I am sure either of the options are lovely being top of the line. But since you asked.:halo:

I’d get the 2.74. I prefer a whiter diamond and the inclusion is practically non-existant.

And don’t worry about if you find it too big... It’s easier to trade down than it is to trade up!

Get the 2.74. Better color and a nice size. But I'm not one to prioritize clarity. As long as it's eye-clean it's fine.

Here are all 3 lined up! It’s a photo taken from the video so it might not be great quality sorry!

Thanks everyone for your comments!

Yep, still the largest for me. The middle seems to be the warmest of all.

Hearing all the bling you wear......I vote the 2.74! How will you set her?

I agree with the crowd!!!! GO BIG! You will not regret it!!!!!!

I say go for the 2.52 H VS2.
That way you are at 2..5 carats, and the leap from the 2.52 to 2.74 isn't big enough that it will be a noticeable difference to anyone. Also, I'm a clarity and color junkie, so I'd rather have a better looking diamond than a bigger one. Honestly my first choice was the 2.35, but if the price jump isn't crazy to go with the 2.52, I'd do that.

Oh boy! Now seeing them all three side by side, I say go for the big one, JUST because the color is better. But that's just me. That is something that would potentially bother me. But really it's all about what you love and what you can and can't live with.

I think the difference in size will be noticeable. Definitely. Imo. And the G vs H (I think) will be noticeably whiter if one is color sensitive but the size difference is apparent for sure. IMO.

Yes, now seeing them side by side it is quite noticeable. I'm sure how it's set will make a difference too. Certain settings will no doubt make the 2.52 look bigger while other settings could make the 2.74 look smaller. For me the color difference would bother me depending on what other diamonds I might be wearing with it. For example my ring I'm having made will have MUCH better stones than the wedding and anniversary bands I currently have, thus I'm sure it will drive me crazy to wear them together. Lol!!!

Absolutely the 2.74 for me, too!!! G is my sweet spot and that inclusion is white and off to the side and likely could be covered by a prong or a prong could be placed right next to it so it won't be noticeably at all!!! You definitely won't regret the size!!

is this even a question? LOL (kidding). I'd go big or go home. G/eye-clean SI1 is a GREAT value. The G will be super white and if you can't see inclusions with your naked eye, score! Trust me, that sucker will shrink overnight. GO BIG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(my ~3ct ACA shrunk by the next morning)

big big big !!!!
