After 4 months of trying to be careful and thinking and not rushing, I just sent my stone off to Single Stone. :appl: I am so excited it is going to be in good hands. I have ideas of what I want, but I am also being open to their suggestions because, well, duh their work speaks for itself if you like finely reproduced old-looking beauties. Man, once in a while that Leon French cut thing gets me or a Victor Canera halo pang. I also cannot look at octagonal or hexagonal vintage settings that suit old stones but are not the right size. Good things hands have more than one finger :naughty: I have not forgotten about Haven, Burk (any of them), or Lovey or Fran Fine, Dreamer, Demelza, Chrono, Diamondseeker, Doug'sgirl, twosanguinehearts, Circe... See why I waited?? I am calm. I am inspired by your jewels ladies and many others....I will keep you posted. Just in the mail today so it'll be a while.

I can't wait to see what they do with your stone. Anything 'singlestone' makes my heart go pitter patter!

Excellent choice! I can't wait to see what you get. If I was buying a modern reproduction, I would totally use them as well!

Very exciting! The wait has to be excruciating!

Oh I would love a setting from Singlestone, they do such beautiful work...can't wait to see your finished piece!

Single Stone is amazing. Can't wait to see your project unfold!

Today marks one week travel in the mail. Is registered mail really slow or regular slow??

Well, it made it there. Now we are starting to chat about what styles. Has anyone found anything super interesting or delicate or Art Deco or Edwardian I could add just to confuse myself/Heather further?? No, it's okay I just thought I'd ask one more time. I did mention an idea of adding a motif of stylized wings on the gallery as we met when DDH (He is very dear so he is known as Dear Dear Husband on PS) was in the Air Force. I love arches but I'm trying to be creative and make it personal to us.

Bump-Heather at Single Stone is starting sketches after a big discussion about bling. This is going really well :appl: :appl:

Oh!! this is so exciting!!! When will you get to see some sketches? I'll bet you can't wait! I hope you will be able to share with us - we love being involved, you know ;))

And - it must have been so stressful waiting for confirmation the diamond had arrived- I'm glad it got there safely.

I love the notion of wings - actually a great motif to cross Art Nouveau and Deco styles. I cannot wait to see what you settle on!

You are in good hands with Heather and Ari! Can't wait to see what you come up with! No matter what you choose, I know it will be gorgeous!

I am so excited for you! Sending a beautiful stone to Single Stone for them to work their magic is my fantasy. Eeeeee!

Thinking along these lines so far. A tapered more
delicate shank, possibly filigree. I think I have abandoned
octagon at this time and I am okay with it although
I do appreciate them. The antique ring shown is from Lang 's, 5 carats. Might bezel
the whole thing. We'll see. I think it looks like a ring they
just haven't made yet. It reminds me a bit of Junebug's.

Yes, that is harrowing! The guy at the post office
was like, "it's valued at what??" It didn't give me confidence
at that moment! :errrr: The wait isn't excruciating yet. This is just
unadulterated pure fun.

Stunning inspiration ring!

Enerchi-I wouldn't do this without you :praise:

Tyty333, Dreamer D, packrat, derby gal, Yenny -I agree, if I say so myself, that this is a great choice too! Glad you're here to help.
It's nice, and frankly easier, to let go of the control a bit when you know they are so good at what they do as far as loveliness as well as keeping structural issues in mind. The hardest part right now is paring down favorite elements. It's like The Bachelor-they are all pretty and have good points but you have to pick your best long-term match. Because I'm pretty sure DDH isn't going to want me to change the setting in, like, ever!

Rosebloom-Eeeeeee! right back at you :wavey: :appl:

Circe-I thought so too, and I have a thing for angels :saint: If there isn't a good way to incorporate a wing motif, it's fine. There are only about 300 other things that would work beautifully!

We're talking now about sending the stone to the cutter to evaluate the girdle-rebrute one edge where it's dinged up or possibly facet it. Maybe a little "microdebrasion" to improve the polish? Waiting to hear...

*dreamy sigh*  I've had that same ring in my inspiration folder for awhile. It's incredibly beautiful! I can't wait to see what you come up with!!

:lickout: That is a beautiful inspiration ring!! Wow!! Where would you try to put the wing element? on the prongs? or under the mount?

I'm excited to see some sketches/ideas that Heather comes up with!! Does she think its about a week or so before she has something to show you???

Christina, do you wonder if maybe it's the huge facet pattern?? I am crazy for the engraved prongs.
About a week is right. I was thinking maybe just on the north and south sides on the gallery? With a center bezeled stone joing each wing? I haven't seen anything like that, but I am guessing the engraving/bezelling, chasing/filigree elves have their ways. I am just so chill about this because I know it will not come out ugly. I just don't see ugly coming out of that place. KWIM? God help me if I become known as the one who made SS make a homely thing.

I cannot WAIT to see this!!!!!!

Okay, quick status report:
Design is 90% decided upon, it is going to CAD now. Not sure if we can work in wings, maybe initials or something instead? The master cutter says my stone was cut in the 20s/30s and he is calling it an Old European cut. Defining this stone is going to drive me to naming it Prince: the stone formerly known as Early Modern Brilliant  Since I am looking at bezels now, I understand it is safer to have a faceted girdle rather than the bruted with abrasions one it has now. They say maybe a point or two lost. Also, they are going to have to fix up some of the bezel/kite facets as they work on the girdle. I'm thinking a bezel setting now because I've had prong for 22 years and I'm ready to try something new, it won't catch on anything, and will keep with the vintage authenticity. I'm hoping it is also safer and easy to clean! When I get before and after photos of the stone I will post.

OMG- it's going to be amazing!!!!! I cannot wait to see it so I can only imagine how you must feel right now! Please post pics as soon as you get the ring! I bet it is going to be TDF!!!! :appl:

LOL-love the name you have decided on for it. Suits it I think!

OMG HOW DID I MISS THIS!!!!! I'm totally in love with the ideas you are having for your setting! And I'm so jealous that SS is doing the setting. I love their work and they are on my short list of vendors I must use one day! I can't wait to see the finished product.

And hello from another AF wife! :D  :appl: Though it sounds like your DDH got out.

This for the side view so far, twosanguine hearts 2nd ring's shank, do you want to know more or be surprised? :naughty:
Yes, SBear 621 hubs was a B52 flyer and got out and became a doc. When he graduated one of his old AF friends said, "I always knew you
were a healer not a killer."

CADs will leave room for change if deemed necessary but I'm liking it. I don't want it to look too big and overwhelm my finger.

Moremoremoremoremoremoremore! Oh, that looks FABULOUS. I cannot wait to see the finished product. Up close, and very personal. :naughty:

Now the stone is off to the Master Cutter spa. Word on the street is that that girdle is so abraded it's now going to lose 4-5 points. At 2.31 to start with, I'm fine with that. Just make it safer for the next 90 years or so... :snore:

Dude, no teasing! yes we want to see MORE! :appl:

More! More! More! More!

Gorgeous inspiration pieces! And I am so glad you are getting a little spa treatment for your diamond! I love having them close to their original condition! Can't wait to see how this is going to turn out!

Oh my, I can't wait to see your CAD's if this is the direction you chose. I love both "inspiration" rings. :appl:
