Sent my Old Mine Cut stone to GIA and so happy with the results!

You have an absolutely beautiful stone for all your hard work and determination! I do like the original setting, but I love your sticky tack setting in the yellow gold. It just seems like it fits perfect and I like the band width with your stone's size.

Your « set stone » gave me pause...set already!? And such minimalist prongs lol
Then I zoomed in. Brilliant!
Here is my ritani halo...i think your setting is much more elegant : )
It will be fun to see what you finally decide. p1090948.jpg

haha, very cute and creative!

Thank you! The band that the diamond is stuck to is a plain 2.5mm band. I think it looks good too! I'll have to see what the designer thinks once she gets the stone. But I do think the stone looks better in gold than in platinum somehow.

I agree. For me there is a tipping point on the grade scale (or particular stone) where it makes more sense to embrace the color of the stone and then enhance it rather than try to make it look whiter. Others feel differently but that is the beauty of this site as we all have differing opinions. My stone is right on that edge but I got rid of all my yellow gold and it really doesn't look good on me. What you did with the sticky tack is ingenious and really gives you the feel of how it will look. I put aluminum foil around my stone when looking at a bezel setting as was suggested by folks at PS. This site is a wealth of info and friendly people.

It's beautiful - enjoy it.

I adore everything about your diamond! OMC/Antique Cushions are so hard to find now, especially over 2ct, this is a rare treasure, I'm so happy for you!

Hi Erica! Thank you so much :) While I was insuring the stone yesterday I kept thinking "I really hope I don't have to replace this stone one day but if I do at least I know Love Affair Diamonds will be able to help me!". I'm so glad you like my stone. I feel even more secure in my choice!

That stone is a dream come true!!!! You did an amazing job!! I am in exactly the same position you were in, searching for my dream OMC, but my budget is a little less, closer to 5000. Can you share where you found it?? I’m going to start a new thread looking for help. Thanks!!

Which auction house? Will they have OMC’s?? I asked ACV123 where she found hers but I can’t find my post!! I’m on the hunt, thanks!!

Hi @rubyjim! I think it may be buried somewhere in the thread but I went to Grogan in Boston. They have varied inventory every auction so I'm not sure what they'll have in their next one. Good luck!!

aw thank you so much!!

Oh! I wanted to ask you....Do you happen to have pictures of the diamond while you were considering buying it? I’m curious to see what it looked like and how it caught your eye in the first place. I don’t want to overlook something that could possibly be a beauty. Thanks!

ACV123, I have a question for you because it’s very hard to tell in pictures. Is your O/P very yellow??? I just ordered an OMC with similar specs to yours, and the jeweler tells me it only shows a hint of warmth but psers are stating it looks pretty yellow. My stone does not have a GIA grading yet. But I know the jeweler is very reputable, Ilya, and I trust him. But the photos do appear pretty yellow. He says it’s much whiter in person. I’m just wondering how much yellow you see in your O/P
Thank you!!!

how exciting for you! I don't think my stone looks yellow, its warm but not yellow to my eyes. In most settings it looks to almost like a cream or champagne color. Here are some more pictures from other angles I hadn't posted before. Hope this helps!

haha, it was a leap of faith, no return policy, didn't see it in person. Lots of hand wringing!
It has its quirk but I love it!

Oh.My. GOSH!!! Thank you so much.... I just cannot believe how beautiful it is. Thank you for the pics. It's soooo hard to tell in my pictures. I did ask the jeweler to send it to me, but I'm so anxious, I wish I could tell from pics. Thank you again!!!
