Found myself down a rabbit hole on 4C’s and ended up falling in love with Jannpaul’s decagon.

We were offered this 3.13 carat decagon that they had on hand - everything else would take 4-5 months to grow. Everything looks good to me in person but I’m a diamond newbie so I’d love to get others opinion. I guess I’m worried that there was a reason someone passed up this diamond.

Anything I should be concerned by?

Personally, I find this stunning and if the price was right, would buy it myself! But I love hexagons, octagons, decagons, etc.

There are so many reasons someone would back out of a purchase like this that have absolutely nothing to do with the diamond.

It's perfect. If you love the specs and can afford it, buy it.

And then come back and share approximately 51 videos in all types of lighting and 1,000 photos (give or take). =D

I'm waiting for a pair of JP LGD Decagon studs and and three stone EC. So, you know where I stand.

BTW. They don't have much in stock in the larger stones. I would agree with vintageinjune and snap it up.

It looks incredible. I'd have no hesitation getting this.

Zero hesitation from me on this. If it's in your budget I would buy immediately

Thank you. I definitely needed to hear that. I’ll have to wait till my partner pops the question but will definitely be back with loads of pics and videos.

Thank you! The stone is already on hold for us, just wanted to get the advise of folks here in case we missed anything.

I’ve always wanted a round but when we saw the decagon - it really stood out and we felt it was unique but still timeless

Run and embrace it - this is the definition of perfection!

@Kim N and @DejaWiz - I’ve seen how amazing your help has been in so many post so I’m glad this has your stamp of approval. They quoted us SGD18.5k (~13.7USD) I understand that there’s definitely a premium for going with Jannpaul but what are your thoughts on the pricing? I find that there’s just a massive range for finding a great 3ct round from anywhere between 6-15k USD for labs so kinda using that as a rough anchor point.

Yes, there's a premium going with a guaranteed super ideal cut diamond with all the imaging to prove it. I would also personally place a premium on getting the proprietary Decagon cut which they've perfected. I might hesitate more on a simple round diamond. Is it worth it to you?

What Kim said. If this is in your budget and you place a high desire for this extremely rare and perfected Decagon cut, then it may be worth it to you.
Will you regret passing up a Decagon, even if you were looking at a super ideal cut 8 main round on your finger?

Thank you for that thought. I have to keep telling myself that this is one of those moments that I should go for what I love and not just for what makes the most sense. It’s definitely worth it for the both of us.

I do love the decagon and my partner is very happy with it as well. I’d say if I were to go with a SIC round - I’d probably go with another vendor since it’s more accessible. You are right in that I’d probably be thinking of what if - when looking at the round. Kinda silly of me to try and compare the two but the practical and frugal side of me is always looking for a good deal. The decagon is well within our budget - otherwise I would not have even entertained the ideal at all, he just wants to make me happy and ultimately that’s what makes the decagon worth it to us.
