I've decided to send my diamond to Whiteflash for a trade-in evaluation to upgrade. My stomach is ball of knots! So nervous to put my beloved ring in a box and ship it off to Texas.

Pricescopers who have been through this before or have worked with Whiteflash, please talk me through this!! I need support!

I never sent them a ring, but I bought one from then, it was great, easy and I love my ring. LOVE it. :)

I totally understand your nervousness. I sent my expensive jewelry multiple times to Whiteflash with success using usps Registered Mail with insurance. The cost of shipping insurance is quite reasonable when using Registered Mail compared to other carriers or shipping methods. RM is relatively safe, as there are signed handoffs between drivers and receiving post office stations, and the package is locked up overnight. The only downside is a longer transit, which prolongs the anxiety, even with tracking updates. Thanks goodness WF sent me a notification email as soon as it receives my package.
Once the package is with WF, you are in good hands. No worry there.

Thank you! They’re offering a fedex shipping label. I’m just nervous about the whole letting go and trade up process.

Good luck Tweety! How exciting0 a possible upgrade! Don't worry, PSers are here to help and support you. And if you don't love what they are offering you don't have to take it. WF has a good reputation here and many here have upgraded trough them. Sending you lots of good luck dust and please don't forget share pics with us after this is over. :appl:

I did this and sold my BN ring to WF. The process was painless. I do wish (and this is to go out on a limb here, I realize) that I'd upgraded with BN. I had my eye on a 5ct E SI1cushion. I wish I'd bought it. No chance of a cushion with WF.

WF is very generous for offering a shipping label. I have a question out of curiosity. Is there insurance for loss during transit?

5ctE Si1 cushion sounds tempting! What stopped you?

Sorry, Op, for the threadjack.

Ah @mrs-b, I am sure that another cushion will come into your life at one point or another!

TweetyBird I just went through this exact same thing! It took me years to finally decide to trade in my diamond and buy the diamond of my dreams, a Whiteflash ACA. I worked with Liza who was amazing and understanding. They sent me a FedEx box, I did exactly as they said, and shipped off my diamond. I had knots in my stomach until I heard, the next day, that they did receive my diamond. I went through many emotions. Guilt, doubt, excitement, you name it.

I received my new rings (Legato Sleekline Solitaire, 3/4 Annette & a spacer ring) on Friday. The rings were better than I expected. It was worth all of the emotions.

I can't get over that I finally did it. I love my new rings.

Through the whole ordeal the communication from Liza & Whiteflash was top notch. I was notified almost every day of the progress of my rings.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Thank you for taking the time to write this, tagafabo! I’m glad to hear you had a wonderful experience!

It SO worth it! Your diamond is insured while in transit, so there are no worries about that! You'll end up with a better cut and larger diamond...be excited!:appl:

(I've traded in my diamond studs at least 3 times with WF. It's painless with a nice package to open on the other end of the transaction!)

Sorry, Op, for the threadjack.

It just seemed like SO much money. I then went on to spend more than that upgrading my BN diamond with WF and buying a second, Victor Canera, stone, because the upgraded round just didn't scratch the itch. It's my biggest diamond regret. And - apologies - I said E SI1, I meant G SI1. It's still for sale and it kills me every time I think of it.

The shipping label includes insurance, yes.

No worries! Everything will be fine! I've sent items to them numerous times. And hey, if it gets lost it's insured for the FULL amount, which is higher than what WF is offering you. ;))

I like the way you think CareBear lol

I was also worried the few times I've sent expensive jewelry through USPS and FedEx. I had to do this two times for WF. Once was an exchange, in which case it was through USPS - I had to cover the costs for packaging and registered mail and insurance. The second time was for a repair/resize, this one they sent me a FedEx label which is covered under their account, for overnight shipping.

For James Allen, my experience has been that all returns, exchanges, resizes, repairs, they will print a FedEx label and everything is covered under their account for 2 day shipping.

I mentioned this to WF, along with the case that at least for me, FedEx is much easier to work with than my local post office, and their response was:

The Postal experience can be lacking for sure but the security of shipping via Registered Mail is well proven. I have used it for more than 30 years and shipped packages in excess of $100,000.00 even though they only insure up to $50,000.00. Never had a lost package. Although as they told you it will arrive on Thursday, that is highly unlikely, standard arrival is 3-5 business days but for some reason the Postage can only be calculated starting with 2 day priority.

In the end, everything found its way to them and worked out - so I'm just glad it made its way there safely and securely!

Is Whiteflash now letting you ship to them using Fedex instead of USPS? Or giving you a choice as to which to use?

I was just given the option of FedEx. They provided a label fully insured.

HOLY SHIZ, @mrs-b... I just checked it out. Damn.

I sent my 1 carat diamond ring to Whiteflash and everything went very smoothly. I got the Fedex box with instructions of how to pack my ring; you have to wait for Fedex to scan the box when you turn it in and you can track it's progress online all the time. Whiteflash lets you know when your package arrives. It worked out great and getting my ACA was definitely a happy ending. I hope everything works out for you to get your beautiful upgrade.

I sent my three stone ring to WF last January for possible trade-in of the center (non WF) stone. You are shipping it under their account so no worries in terms of insurance. It arrives overnight so not much time to get too nervous. When they received the ring and evaluated it, they gave me a possible price range but then told me they would need to take the center stone out of the setting for a final evaluation and offer. I said yes, they came back with a firm offer and I accepted. It was truly painless and they were so in touch with me every step of the way. Their customer service was outstanding and the new stone was worth it all.

My best advice - don't worry, sit back and enjoy the whole experience of anticipation. It is addicting!!

I wonder if the price of the ring matters. For me, the one that used USPS was < $10k and the one that they provided FedEx was > $10k. I didn't have a choice in either.

Absolutely take it! Now you are covered under their insurance and the diamond will be there the next day. None of this registered mail getting there sometime soon, maybe...

FedEx will let you pay for insurance, but in the small print, you are only eligible for coverage up to a hundred dollars on jewelry. When you let WhiteFlash send you the label, they have supplemental insurance that protects them, and you, fully. It is part of the excellent service there.

Wink

I did send an eternity ring via fedex once using fedex insurance which is way less than the value of the ring. I did not want to wait a week for it to get there. Thinking back that was not the best idea.:P2

I’ve never shipped anything to them, but I’ve worked with them twice so far (diamond studs and the necklace in my profile pic). I can tell you this: You are in GREAT hands! WF is second to none. They’ll take excellent care of you and your stone.

I wonder if Sheera is still there? She’s fantastic! Did a wonderful job on my princess-cut studs! :))

Thank you for the input, everyone! I went ahead and shipped it!

Great, please come back and let us know how you get on.

One more person here who has shipped WF a diamond for trade in! I sent them my 1.76 F VS2 RB that was mounted and they unmounted it and evaluated it for trade in. They are pros, I wouldn't worry one bit. Even though you sent it already, one more vote of confidence in using the vendor's FedEx label over USPS Registered Mail. It isn't in the land of unknown for nearly as long and the item is insured with their insurance. Win-win!

Excited for you, I have gone through something similar. Really can't wait to see what gorgeous stone you end up with :rolleyes2:!
