Semi-bezels & MRB arrows orientation

I’ve sifted through the various threads related to semi-bezels, but many of them have OECs, and in the ones with MRBs, some of the pictures make it hard to decipher how the arrows are oriented - NSEW or ... not NSEW (not sure what the alternative is called ... askew?).

Is there a general reason for going one way or another or any other reason to consider? Or is it entirely personal preference? If the latter, which option would you go with & why?

Thanks in advance for any input! :wavey:

I’m a geometry freak. I can confidently say I’d set MINE NSEW. Visually, the “askew” would bother me. Everyone’s eye sees things differently, though, so I donNt think either way is “wrong”. As long as the bezel sits flat along the stone, for security purposes, either would be fine.

It was important to me is to have GIA inscription showing so that limited choices for arrow orientation. Here's mine. Not the sharpest shot but I don't have WF equipment, just my phone.

Agree with @Matthews1127 - I don't think there is a right way or a wrong way, per se, but visually my eye is drawn to and prefers the NSEW orientation.

Thank you all for weighing in. :wavey: Visually, I think my eyes prefer the NSEW orientation in general - but also agree w/ @baby monster that I’d want to ensure my AGS inscription is visible vs. covered by a semi-bezel. But then - if NSEW - I also think: does that mean I’ll only get ‘full arrow viewing’ of the N & S arrows because the other 6 will have their tips covered ... where as if they were askew, I’d see at least four of them? :wall:

@baby monster - Is yours a Sholdt semi-bezel by chance? It’s gorgeous! Just curious to see how far up the bezels extend along the sides of the diamond since that’s who’s making mine. Thanks!

I’ll should have CADs back this coming week for mine, so I’m anxious to see how it looks, as I’m making a couple of customizations to the R-379. And I’ll be sure to ask what my options are for orientation given my diamond’s measurements.
