Hi All - appreciate the wealth of knowledge that is clearly evident here. Am hoping I can toss a beginner question at this crowd and get some thoughts. I will be proposing to SO sometime in the Spring of 13. We have done a limited search, but she has determined that she wants a round diamond with a halo. Nothing too crazy in terms of styling. I had shown her the Danhov at James Allen, and she really liked it. However, it looks like it won't be able to accept the diamond size I am considering.

For whatever it's worth, I'm looking around 2 carats, H-I, VS2-SI1 and Excellent+ cut.

Here is the Danhov setting referenced above: http://www.jamesallen.com/designer-...xe101-by-danhov-designer-engagement-ring.html

As I mentioned, this appears to accept a diamond no larger than 1.5 carats. I am now looking for a similar setting at a price near or below 6k. Initial research has brought my attention to a halo from Leon Mege, but I'm not at all informed as to the price due to its website. Something like this: https://www.pricescope.com/files/images/haloring6.jpg Can anyone shed any light as to what Leon charges for such a setting?

Are there any other particular designers or settings that this forum can recommend?

Thanks in advance for any all help in making her as happy as I can!

It is a pretty setting. however, if you are going to spend that much on a setting I would have it hand cast if it is in your budget. I would go with Victor Canera, Leon Mege or Steven Kirsch. They have several variations of halos that are close to the setting you chose. However, they can easily also make that settings. If you are going to do Pave work then point blank- go with the pave masters.

here is my 2.04ct VC halo. It is called the Emilya setting if you do a search on PS you will see several variations of it. I think LM calls his the Adrienna or similar.

Wow :D Thanks for the rapid response! Beautiful ring

What you say makes sense to me. Any guidance on the expected turnaround and cost?

I will second Victor Canera. His work is just outstanding! The setting should be less than $6000.

No problem and please forgive all my spelling/ grammer errors. I "think type" and if I don't proof read none of it makes sense!

Turnaround time seems pretty consistent at around 6-8 weeks. I know you can rush if you tell them for a quicker turn around time. For exact costs you will need to contact them for a quote as it will depend on what size center diamond you end up going with, what kind of pave etc. However, I would expect ball park to be 4-6k.

EDIT- Not sure where you are located but SK and LM are in NYC. VC is out of CA. Definitely look at the halo thread on PS. It is called a Collection of Halos which shows all of their work. I would also check out their websites and see if you like any of the Harry Winston inspired (the orginal setting was by HW) variations better. For examples the setting you posted didn't have the curved struts or donut below and it looked like it allowed for a wedding band to sit flush. I liked it but it didn't look as delicate as (say for example) VC Emilya setting.
