I really like the below setting from Whiteflash, as it is different from most other Halos I have viewed. I couldn't find anything similar at James Allen and/or BGD to fit in my $2k budget for e-ring setting. I am looking at $11k budget for a 1.2 - 1.3 carat stone.

http://www.whiteflash.com/engagement-rings/solitaire/guinevere-solitaire-engagement-ring-179.htm

And possibly this as the wedding band. http://www.whiteflash.com/wedding-bands/seven-stone-shared-prong-diamond-wedding-band-442.htm

If I do go with this setting, is a VS2 H color stone going to be a problem with either the e-ring or band since there are F/G VS stones? Any comments and or advice. Thanks!

No, not a problem. Tons of people on here have that combo and since the melee are so small it's not an issue. I have an L color step cut in a halo of GH stones and it's not a problem.

I love that halo BTW, nice choice!

I adore that setting and I think H color is safe. There will be a difference in appearance between the center and melee stones *no matter what* due to the differing optics of larger and smaller stones -- larger stones just look "darker" because of the contrast and smaller melee stones always look like shimmery white dots! So there will be apparent differences. But with an H color center, in my opinion the contrast between center and melee will NOT make the center look more tinted (as I feel happens with my own J color stone).

BTW I think with the setting you chose a plain band or a micro pave band for a wedding band is a much better match.

I was looking at that same setting for a possible re-set for my diamond, so I asked Whiteflash some questions about it. I have a plain 2mm wedding band, which they said would look perfect with it, but they said that this is the matching diamond band for it:

http://www.whiteflash.com/wedding-bands/halo-diamond-wedding-band-1142.htm

I really love that band, and it's on my wish list even if I don't re-set into the Guinevere setting. It's also a significantly less than the 7-stone, so if you were planning to set aside nearly $2K for the wedding band, you could just put that $800 toward the center stone instead. But, your bride-to-be may have a preference for something else entirely!

Either of the stones would be excellent. I'm assuming that inclusion on the first one is not visible...I would double check
to make sure but it shouldnt be a problem. I love that setting you picked out. The mix of the halo with the plain metal band
is really attractive.

I was reading past threads and came across a halo's day to day performance and durability. Any problem with the Guinevere setting likely getting snagged on something/etc.?

I don't think so. It looks like it's not too high or anything. I love the Guinevere.

I definitely prefer a wedding band like this with that ring:

http://www.whiteflash.com/wedding-bands/halo-diamond-wedding-band-1142.htm

The other one likely has diamonds too high which would scratch the little parts that hold up the halo.

Both stones are great. They are about the same diameter so will appear the same size. I have an H VS1 and I do enjoy knowing I can't see inclusions with a loupe. But going with VS2 is certainly a way to save a little money if you need to allot it elsewhere.

I think the WF setting is lovely. Either stone would be a great choice and totally fine next to the white diamonds in the halo. I do think a pave band like the one diamondseeker posted would be a better match, not only due to the potential scratching with the shared prong band but from an aesthetic standpoint as well.

I really appreciate the replies. I agree with that wedding band. For some reason, stone #1 (VS2) went up quite a bit - almost $1500!. No change yet for VS1- stone #2.

I am probably over thinking this, but here is one more stone. The plots are really clean on the table. Here is one more.
Stone #3 - http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-2561969.htm

Just an update. After speaking with WF I reserved stone #2 http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-2517153.htm instead of #3 http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-2561969.htm

After watching prices jump the last month and WF assuring me the prices for both #2 & #3 would likely be going up very soon and it was literally a toss up on the quality between both. She actually said #2 would face up a tiny bit larger. I still can't believe the VS2 was I looking at increased by $1,500 from Sunday morning. Felt like I better jump at this VS1!

I can't wait til see it paired with the Guinevere setting. I will post pics after I pop the question. Thanks for all your help.

As far as halos go I think this style is about as safe as it gets - no pave on the shank, plenty of metal holding the melee in place, no pave up the prongs and in the gallery to worry about when wearing bands with it, and you can trust that WF will do a good job in crafting it so that is one more variable removed :sun:

I really like the halo and plain shank style! centrestone and melee will look and perform differently because of the difference in optics b/c of the size differences - thread discussion https://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=144474,, but to answer your question specifically no, the body colour is not something to be concerned about. Whether or not you personally like/dislike/don't care about the apparent colour difference due to optics differences is something only you can determine!
