Hi LS

The term ' faces up white' is used by some to describe a lower colour stone, such as J, that in their opinion looks white face up. Sometimes these grades can show some warmth from the side or pavilion view, if you are unsure ask your rep at JA to go into greater detail to describe the colour grade of this particular diamond to you.

Do you have the crown and pavilion angles for this diamond too please and any images?

I would ask for an Idealscope image of this diamond before proceeding, it looks in the loupe image as if it might be showing a touch of obstruction ( darkening because the light to the stone is obstructed) so an Idealscope image would tell us more.

The image looks like there is a touch of obstruction and also that it has had a girdle treatment called painting, this isn't necessarily a bad thing as it can in some cases enhance the desirable visual properties of the stone and this diamond might well have benefited from it if this is the case. Ask the vendor if the stone looks dark at close scrutiny. The optical symmetry is isn't perfect but as this isn't a h&a diamond then to me that doesn't matter that much, one more thing to check is that the grade making cloud isn't impacting performance of the diamond ( rare but best to check).

"There are inclusions in the diamond but nothing that would impact the performance. The inclusions are all internal and the clouds will not impact the performance of the diamond."

"There is no darkness in the diamond. It is an Ideal cut with excellent light performance."

I''m not sure. I was talking to one of their online chat sales associates. She went away for a minute so maybe she consulted with a gemologist? I don''t know. That is an assumption. When I get off work, I will call and speak with someone.

But so far, what do you think...for the price?

Yes, ask to speak to the gemologist or to have an e-mail directly from him/her.
