Seeking the One Ring

Hi guys

I am looking to pull the trigger on an engagement ring in the next day or so. I've been scouring this forum and looking at idealscopes and using the HCA tool and I feel like my eyes will soon begin to bleed.

I am looking at an approx 0.8 carat round brilliant, at least I colour and VS2 clarity (or maybe a mythical eye-clean SI1). I have been looking for something with as great a cut as possible.

I have this diamond on hold at JA at the moment - I am leaning towards JA over Whiteflash at the moment because I like their handmade 6 prong knife edge setting price/quality-wise.

My top-end budget for the stone was around $3400 and this is stretching it to around $3580, but I feel like its a very nice stone based on what little I can understand of the IS images.

Can I please get some feedback? Is there likely to be better out there in my price-range? If anyone has any other suggestions I would really appreciate it.

The stone that you are considering looks like a very nice stone. I did find this one which is a little more but a VS1 in clarity:

I would not choose a vendor or a stone based on a setting. Buy the best cut stone you can find for the money. Your choice of setting will be relatively easy to find.

What setting are you looking at at JA?

That JA stone is quite nice. Given that you mentioned Whiteflash, there are a few stones there within your budget, so what do you think about these stones?

I think the last Expert Selection stone missed out on ACA status due to an issue with the distance between the bottom of the hearts and the top of the chevrons. ASET and IS for the ES stone look mighty fine to me.
