Hi all,
I have been reading a lot on diamonds (including here :) and I hope it helped me to pick up two nice diamonds for my fiancée for my proposal
I am keen for any advice, positive or negative, on the one I should choose among the two or maybe none lol.
The priority of my fiancée is to have a lot of fire on the diamond.
In terms of price, the 0.814 is 6.56kUSD and the 0.77 is 5.82kUSD.
Eventually I will get 7% off these prices since I will get back the gst/vat rebate.
I have selected them in a brick and mortar shop in Singapore (supposely well know for price/quality).
I guess it is more expensive than online, but online the setting are rather expensive and it is difficult to choose.
Still you can tell me honestly if the price is ok or sucks...
Thanks for your help and let me know if you need further details.
MANY MANY THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pierre (diamond beginner level 1 :) )

0.77 DIAMOND HCA 1.4
then 0.814 HCA 0.9 (below 1 then...)

HCA's are posted above - 1.4 and 0.9, but the 0.9 is AGS ideal anyway, which trumps HCA.

ASET's and all images look great - it's a coin toss really. What's the price difference?

Comparing to Whiteflash ACA these seem very expensive, but perhaps not after conversion and taxes. Both look good, I'd go with the one with a larger spread in mm.

Sorry about the duplicate posts.....:D

Happening all over. Lag on ps servers!

They are virtually the same size...(and images all look great). I* personally would probably go with the cheaper one unless you want bragging
rights to be over .8.

Both are gorgeous. For a beginner, you did an excellent job!

Since both diamonds are F and eye clean, I would go with the smaller/less expensive stone. The larger stone gets you less than 1/10 of 1mm increase in spread for the money and since they're both great performers it doesn't seem a justifiable cost.

Oh, is Jann Paul from SG. They are pretty reputable and they will educate their customers well.

i’ve read that there is this formula to calculate whether the cutter “cheated” - length x width x depth x 0.0061. Based on this calculation, the AGS 80-pointer “cheated” less. Anyway, this is just for reference. Calling the cutter “cheat” seems to be a bit exaggerated haha.

Both seem to be equally beautiful diamonds, and they will probably perform more or less the same. Personally, I would go for the GIA diamond. This is because the price difference is too huge for such minute details. Besides, it is a VVS2, making it seems to be more value for money.

I'm team AGS0. Sorry I'm no help...lol!! :lol-2:

They both look great. I'd personally prefer to receive the .8 - AGS and bragging rights. Haha! But they're both fantastic buys IMO.

I have read goo things about JannPaul in SG. All of their 'super ideal' cuts have HCA scores below 1.4. Are you in SG? how do they compare side by side? you'll be able to make your decision there.

AGS graded stone for me. At least I actually know what the proportions are on the stone compared with rounded numbers for some items in the GIA report.

But if you are buying from JannPaul, you can’t go wrong with any of their super ideals.

I'd go for the AGS 0.

Hi all,
Thanks for your replies. We finally went for the 0.77ct. I was ready to go for the 0.814 since the price difference was not much, and was even pushing for it to the girlfriend, but after looking attentively and put the diamonds in the gemex machine, the fire was more intense on the 0.77 gia rather than on the 0.814 ags. So my gf was more keen for the 0.77ct. Service was really good honestly. We spent 4h in the shop today for the setting and the diamond lol. And it was my third visit :) Will post the ring here once collected. Cheers, Pierre
