Seeking advice on this diamond! Thank you

Looks like you checked the stone out and liked the clarity. That's good. Many SI1's do look good. That means you can save some budget relative to buying VS2, VS1, etc.

The problem is that this stone is a steep-deep. The light performance will be mediocre. The whole point of a diamond is to return light to the viewer's eye, and this diamond won't be very good at light performance.

Run stones you find through HCA, reject those that score >2.0, and keep the ones that score <= 2.0 for further analysis.

This one scores 5.0. It's very steep and very deep, despite having a GIA grade of Excellent.

Most stones with a pavilion angle of >41 (41.2 in this case) won't do too well.

It's not a stone we'd recommend. It is too deep which can make a stone face up smaller in diameter than it should, and the biggest problem is that the crown and pavilion angles likely would result in some leakage.

These are measurements to help you stay in ideal cut territory with a GIA excellent cut stone.

table: 54-58

depth: 60-62.3

crown angle: 34-35.0

pavilion angle: 40.6-40.9 (sometimes 41.0)

Also, there is a screening tool for GIA ex cut stones:

This stone scored a 5.0 when we recommend stones as good prospects at 2.0 or under! You want Excellent on Light return, fire, and scintillation and very good on spread. This one scored good on three factors and only fair on fire. So I would definitely look further.

Thanks a lot for the very useful advice!

I have checked this diamond directly and looks good to the naked eye and when zooming under 10x

Please let me know if you see any problem

Many thanks
The stone is too deep!. a well cut 1.17ct should be closer to 6.8mm in diameter.
