Either I'm an idiot or Malcum-Amit is a very confusing process.

I've exchanged a few emails with them about shipping a diamond to GIA and I get more confused with every discussion.

Last time, they brought up "Fedex" and their relationship with them.

Anyway --

What are other options on shipping -- worry free -- a stone worth at least 100K to GIA ?

What country are you shipping from?

Are you currently insured? If so, by whom and do they include any shipping coverage?
 
This is the same guy with the 5 or 6 carat diamond that he wants to sell. I don't think it's insured independently. OP, given that in your last post you stated it had a chip, you REALLY need to get it appraised and possibly re-polished before getting it graded because the chip could impact the clarity rating. You should also have it insured independently of shipping insurance - that alone will take off a lot of the stress you seem to have about this process. And have your appraiser show you how to identify your stone based on inclusions, etc., so you can stop worrying about having to watch everyone do everything with your rock. THEN send it to GIA.

Or you can do it your way and keep feeling crazy. Not my problem, really, but everyone is suggesting these things to you because they work. It seems like you just want to ship the diamond off to GIA for what - in the hopes of getting a fast sale once you get it back? Not that many people buy 6-carat diamonds - it's going to be a slow sale no matter what, so you need to concentrate on maximizing the profit potential.

For shipping - have you called and spoken to them on the phone? My understanding is that their cooperation with FedEx is only on overseas or European transportation, but I think you're in the US? Brinks is another secure transportation company that can be used.

I'll just drive to Malca Amit personally. She told me no worries about it being covered if I pay them the fee they charge based on value.

The "chip" I'm now told is below the surface so I guess it isn't a "chip" -- and that comes from the gemologist at a respected store near me. (I've heard one thing and another and one guy seemed to WANT to devalue it -- an "ploy" on his part maybe ?).

Anyway, the gemologist told me to send it just as it is.

Get it certified -- step one according to him -- even if I have to do it again, so what -- only 410 bucks.

As far as a sale, I have all the time in the world to do it right.
 
If you don't have a recent sales invoice I'd definitely pay for a professional independent appraisal from a Graduate Gemologist who does NOT buy or sell diamonds.
A gemologist's word at a respected store is not enough.
