Second guessing ring setting. Advice? :(

I have a custom setting being made by my jeweler. It’s pretty much Whiteflash’s Annette U prong setting, except I wanted 5 stones instead of 7.


My husband saw what is I believe the trellis setting and I thought I loved the u prong setting more. Now that I’ve seen the trellis setting, I can’t get it out of my head. So now I’m torn on what to do…. The jeweler has made the setting. He just needs to set the diamonds in and have me try it on.


Thoughts?

I have a butterflies (similar to trellis) and I do love it but it does sit rather high, I believe higher than the u prong. I’m not sure if that is a consideration for you.

I don’t wear it to work (lots of hand washing) but do for regular life, dog walking, errands, etc. I’m far from careful but I think bc it’s on my non dominant hand it doesn’t take much abuse.

I have versions of both and I prefer the u-prong. Trellis stones are about .31ct each. U-prong center stone is 2.53ct and the sidetones start at .25ct and graduate smaller.

Oooo pretty! Now I don’t know the names of things but is that a tulip basket? Is that something you wanted? I only ask because I wasn’t sure if a stone that big (2ct +) needs more support? Sorry, Diamond noobie here

I’m not sure what it’s called and I didn’t ask for it. I think it’s just part of the butterflies setting? It may be a function of the center stone having six prongs, which was my preference aesthetically. @yssie designed this setting and may have more insight? It was very hard to settle on a design but this was the one I kept coming back to and I love it every time I put it on.

Hi!! I'm not sure what the tulip basket means exactly, either, I'm afraid That's just the way that mount is, it's not a removable head or anything! I love three stones with six-prong heads and I loved the trellis mount, so this is how we combined them!! And @FornasettiLover's proportions are my favouritest!!

Sooo I stuck with u prong. I think talking with the jeweler, he mentioned the trellis would hide the diamond and the sole purpose is to show off the diamond. I reallly wanted the trellis but I think for my next ring, that’s what I’ll get for my right hand. I love the 5 stone ones I saw on here so that’s my inspiration!
