Hi ladies,
IMG_5777.PNG
I am searching for a modern cushion cut diamond. My budget is around 10k. I like slightly elongated like a pillow (just like the photo). I can go as low as G/H and eye clean. Is there any inventory in James Allen that you girls recommend?

Hopefully i could find a sparkly diamond~~~

Thanks! :)

Um... the X in the center is quite prominent. Is there any other modern cushion that doesnt have an X at the centre?:Up_to_something2:

Thanks tyty333's reply!!

I am finding quite a few interestign options in the vast database @ JA's ... however, what I consider nicest are diamonds with relatively strong contrast: quite bright, from somewhat larger bits of sparkle forming an obvious symmetrical pattern ... and, since these stones are rectangular, that symmetrical pattern is going to X ! Example: WWW

ALL these cushions have some version of a barion-style pavilion (similar to radiant cuts) ... which, I suspect makes the X more obvious than the oddly rare brilliant style cushions - like this one: WWW. I have been so sunk into 'house' cut models, that I didn't even know how unusual these things are ! [I am laughing at myself ...]

An exception from JA: very small tale & not much X-ing; E-SI1 is a weakness ...

WWW

I have not made up my mind either !

PS. @rockysalamander & I were writing in the same time: her choice could not be more different ! Wouldn't mind seeing these two together .-)

Footnote:

... the diamond in the reference photo seems to have a slightly unusual patter of faceting - this, I think: WWW - which I am not finding in any diamond over one carat.

[so many interesting diamonds in the smaller sizes ... I have certainly enjoyed this search ! For fun: WWW , WWW .-) ]

Maybe that the stone in the reference picture is not a diamond. One of the hashtags below is states "#morganite". FWIW.

JA 1.7 I-VS1~ this one looks good to me!:razz:

its interesting that theres a big X! I have already owned an OEC...thats why i do not want to have another antique cushion~

Probably not, i just like the shape of it!

Almost 10K:

2 cts G/VS1 SB 7.8 X 7 mm - the largest 2 carat I clicked on

2 cts H/SI1 7.7 X 7 mm - this does have the toneau shape

There are a few brighter 2 carat stones, barely over 10K which I have left aside because of their contrast pattern. It might be worth your time to run the same search (GIA & AGS, Ex & Vg Symmetry, >1.9 cts, I-D, SI1-IF, <13K).

I believe that the stone in the picture is a chunky facet cushion brilliant, possibly even an antique cushion since the culet seems more circular than the square/rectangle often seen modern cut stones. I think that I can even see a slight maltese cross in the picture.
If so, you would want to look for plot diagrams that have an 8 main pattern with larger facets at 12,3,6,9. These stones are harder to find in with the mix of other modern cut stones.

A beautiful AVC, probably smaller than you wanted though.

Gorgeous stone:love: Again, though probably smaller than you wanted and overkill in color/clarity.

Not sure about this one, there is some mush but also lots of fire, would have to get an ASET

Another AVC, it is a VS1 so it should be eye clean, but the inclusion is on the table so I guess it depends on your tolerance.

Over budget and out of your specifications, but just throwing it out there. Very pretty stone, with all of the personality of a true antique:mrgreen2: Awhile ago she was running a make me an offer promo, not sure if she still is. But that might bring it in range if it is a stone that you like.

Lots of amazing styles and stones suggested. Anything seem to look like what you hoped OP? That might help us find more options in that style.

Erica is great to work with and she does have a return window to be certain that the stone is the one. So it is certainly worth exploring if you think it fits the bill. It has nice spread and a very romantic presence.

Old cuts tend to be more forgiving and the warmth of a little tint is often part of there charm. I have an OEC that is an L, believe it or not and she faces up quite white and the old cuts tend to throw off amazing pastel flashes.

The 1.51 I that @diamondseeker2006 suggested is very beautiful and will definitely be white.

1.51 I-vs1<- this is amazing! Is this an avc?!

Sorry, just saw your question! Yes, those are AVCs which are being sold through James Allen!

That 1.51 I VS1 has a gorgeous cut!
