A friend of mine just got engaged and she wanted to look at my ring next to hers. I didn''t really think anything of it so I took off my ring and let her look at it. I told her to becareful because I''d heard diamonds can sratch other diamonds. She put them right up against each other so they were practically touching... do you think her ring could of scratched my diamond... am I making a big deal out of nothing???

Diamonds can scratch other diamonds but there would have to be force involved-unless she rubbed your stone against hers vigorously, I doubt there is any chance of damage/scratching.

I'm not an expert but I've done a lot of reading on diamonds scratching/chipping, etc., to squash my own paranoia and I think you shouldn't worry.

Did you notice a scratch or something?

yes, you are making a big deal out of nothing.

Thanks for all your help. I was just worried because she wasn't to gentle with the rings and the diamonds were rubbing against each other.

Personally, I would have let her see it if she could manage to have done it while still on my hand. Unless they are a very good friend (sister), I would not have been willing to do that whole comparison thing. Someone always loses; catty remarks are made; feelings are hurt; etc. Maybe I am too sensitive to that sort of thing, but I just would not feel comfortable with someone wanting to do that. If they just wanted to look at my ring, fine. But a side-by-side comparison smacks of one-upsmanship. JMHO
