Scenes from JCK 2010

Here is a picture from the JCK party. John is a midst of all that wonderful reading material.

The dresses are completely made out of the JCK Magazine. It was very creative.

Sir John, do tell.
What did you learn from all that "educational reading material"?

LOL! I suspect it might have been not to let your wife see what you have been reading!

I just got home from an unrelated convention in Vegas and this event was literally the talk of the town. Everyone was talking about the gem show. It looks like you had a GREAT time!

Ummm... Coati, I really must have a photo of your new ring. It looks phenomenal.

Coati:

Thanks for posting the picture of the Mozambique cuprian tourmalines. Gorgeous stones! Are they for exhibit or for sale? Do you happen to know the asking prices? Those look like the paraibas of my dreams, but unfortunately, I have not found one that I can afford in the quality that I want.

Hi AN,

Paul Wild is wholesale-selling to the trade, so I'd inquire with one of your gem dealers/retailers to see how you would acquire an individual gem from his company. His business is vast with company owned mines and extensive manufacturing. His stones are beautiful, huge, and he has some incredible suites-which he produces for the larger houses. He has a notable 55.29ct tsavorite garnet (cushion cut to boot)-tried to photograph it, but my shots did no justice to the incredible gem.

Here is his website.

GIA hosted a “Rock the Beach” opening reception on Friday night at The Beach at Mandalay Bay. The JCK show will be moving from the Sands Expo to Mandalay Bay this year, so it was a nice opportunity to check out the new 'digs.'
I wanted to post a correction regarding the first several photos and my comments:

The "Rock the Beach" party was hosted by JCK Events, not GIA. My mistake; I received a GIA Alumni Association email alerting me to the function and swaggered in as a GIA diploma recipient. But while the GIA Alumni Association had a cabana - as did others - the event was JCK-organized. JCK deserves credit for the fantastic party!

Thank you to GIA Public Relations for clarifying this. Cheers to all involved.

It''s a ruse Sir John - to make us all happy to be down the dead end of the strip!

Surely someone from Australia can appreciate that a 'dead end' has possibilities, Garry? ;)

I always like spending time at MB during funcations to Vegas - have you been inside the ice vault at Red Square? It will be a new experience to do the JCK-stay there.

Great photos. It looks like a blast. I love the tourmalines. Luscious.
