Saw some HPHT D colored stones on Ritani, how concerned should I be with blue nuance

In the market, saw a few stones I liked, this is similar to some other ones but not exact. Guess I am just wondering how prevalent these blue nuanced HPHT stones are. I was told to steer clear of HPHT stones but they seem to have a certain clarity that draws me back to them. Would prefer something without a blue nuance though.

second stone is specific one I am interested in. Is it just kind of a gamble?

Thanks in advance

Neither of these appear to have blue nuance to my eyes. I prefer HPHT over CVD as long as there's no blue nuance due to the striations that CVD can have.

Agree 100%

Here are some others to take a look at and maybe add to your short list:

I thought a D couldn't have blue nuance because, by definition, it is colorless. Neither blue nor yellow "nuance." Is that the case, more expert LGDers?

That *should* be the case, by definition, but occasionally is not.

I found some more good D VVS2.

That 2.2 is nice!!

Narrowed it down to these three right now. I am not a fan of any of the settings they offer, one person I spoke with did not want to just do the setting. You think it will be difficult to find someone to create a setting I like? nothing complicated

H&A maybe a little smaller than what I was initially going for but.

A little bigger proportions look nice

https://www.ritani.com/products/2-4...vvs2-clarity-igi-lg512226183-sku-d-49vb7nh407

The largest of the 3.

They all came in at .9 on hca

Thanks for the feedback.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of these, but an ASET or Ideal-Scope will tell you much more than any pictures or videos can.

TY, The hearts and arrows designation. Are they always looking for it when they evaluate or is it an add on service.

Can you have a hearts and arrows diamond and its not designated as such? Or is it strict confirmation that the angles and proportions are relatively perfect.

Thanks

Not entirely sure. What we do know about IGI is that if there is the H&A designation (basic or actual images on the report), then it has been checked with an actually H&A viewer.

I'm all for size, so I'd go for the biggest one.

I do think you can have an H&A diamond that's not designated as such. I've only seen the stock H&A images on the reports (haven't seen actual H&A images yet), and I'm unclear if that's an added cost.

John gave a outstanding rundown on IGI's H&A not too long ago...great info for everyone!

It's still a little unclear to me. "When diamonds are submitted for an H&A report..." It does sound like a supplier would have to pay extra to get it designated as H&A, even without paying the additional cost for actual H&A images.

D should not have any blue nuance

Yes, D *should* not have it, but sometimes still can.

Not to thread-jack - can F diamonds have blue nuance. And blue nuance is not inherently “bad” - more of a personal preference?

It looks great!

Thread jack all you want. lol. I purchased the 2.44 D VVS2. its a nice looking stone a little leakage under table when angled but the aset and ideal scope were pretty right on. This blue nuance thing is making me pull my hair out though and I need to keep all the hair I can.

I randomly came across that F VS1 stone which is a CVD type ii a and thought the dimensions were tight. Then I started getting in my head wondering if it had a yellowish coloring to it!! Im driving myself a little crazy :wall:

Just a note for others here Ritani's return policy is 15 days on loose stones 30 for engagement rings.

Yes, any color stone can have blue nuance. Blue nuance is not a bad thing--some people actively seek it--but sometimes it can make a stone appear less natural.

Ahh… thanks for the explanation!
