I need some help on a certain diamond I am considering from TheDiamond.com.
My question is this:
The GIA says the table is 58% but the sarin report they faxed me only gave the table a 57%.
They told me this happens often and that the equipment the GIA uses and other sarin machines are not 100% "in sync".
Otherwise it is the same data.
Is this normal???
I really want an ideal diamond but undersatnd the table must be 57 or less.
Mr Scheiner told me the diamond will look about the same with either table.
I really like this diamond but need help on this issue.
Thanks for any help.
Sam

Sarin machines are presently good enough for measuring stones, but not as accurate as one might hope for. 58 or 57 percfent is not a big difference. You will not be able to see it. Is the table 56, 57, 58 or 59 percent? No one with a Sarin can truly tell you.

There are a couple tools available for measuring in finer, more accurate increments, but neither is in common use in the jewelry trade yet. ImaGem and Octonus both make devices which measure with less machine error. I understand both Sarin and Ogi are coming out with version of these lower error devices in th near future, as well.
