Sapphire with OEC lab diamond halo

This is another reset of this sapphire. I inherited this from my MIL and originally reset it in a pear 3 stone ring. The setting was blocking a lot of the light and it is not a very sparkly stone so I wanted to change it to a halo. I did a small recut on the sapphire so it went from 4.76 to 4.50 just to polish it up and get rid of scratches because she wore the ring for decades. I went with a Diana inspired halo but a more modern take. I had (12) 3mm OEC G/VS halo stones cut from Sam at Debebian’s. He made me this antique halo in platinum. The center stone still goes a bit dark when wearing it but I can definitely see the teal’s and blue’s in the light now because of the open back. Very happy with how it turned out. It is nice and low and a very wearable size.

I am working on another cluster halo with the 8.5 mm OEC that I had cut as well with some slightly larger OEC stones.

Yep! The first setting was the old one. The 2nd setting has .66 pears. I put another lighter sapphire in that one as I still love it. The sapphire lost all it dimension’s by being enclosed. An open halo was just a better fit for it.

Thanks Angel! I am really happy with this one. I am going to do another cluster halo with the OEC I also bought. Maybe slightly larger stones and some pear side’s but no miligrain or engraving this time.

I'm with you! I LOVE this ring and have several pieces from Sam and Maggie, (Debebians), now.
Look at what they did with the recut of the sapphire and then the OEC halo? It's an amazing transformation.
As for price, my projects have varied, but I think they're reasonable considering the work . Debebians created my avatar ring with a Sri Lanka Blue sapphire I purchased from Lisa Elser.
If you're even considering having work done, I would definitely get a quote from Maggie and Sam -- the pieces I have are by far the nicest jewelry that I own .

How are they price wise?

The prices are about the same as DK. They just aren’t all over the boards. Their engraver has been doing this for over 50 years and is very talented, which is why I keep going back. The lab diamond’s I purchased were quoted cheaper then what I got from the overseas vendor’s.

Me too! I shipped mine on Wednesday and it was weather dslayed, so he will be receiving it tomorrow.

This looks like a perfect match as a pendant for my sapphire. I have clip on earrings that were part of my MIL’s ring set too and I might turn one of the smaller sapphires into some drop halo earrings at some point. Something that matches but not too matchy.

I have been wearing this ring non-stop. The halo is blinding with sparkle under my kitchen lights and really makes up for the fact that the center is darker and doesn’t sparkle much. Having 3mm pave is the perfect sized stones for a sapphire halo.

Actually I kept the old setting with the pears and put a new lighter sapphire in that one. I had them cut me lab diamond pears that I put in an OEC halo from debebians as well. Their master jeweler does very awesome custom work.
