I, like many other ladies on PS, have fallen in love with the halo look around a diamond. People have posted their lovely halo rings and they make me drool because the halo really enhances the diamond and makes it even more glorious not to mention bigger!!!

I have also fallen in love with some rings on Fall Cullen''s website that have a saphire halo around a diamond. But I have a question... Do you think that the saphire halo will take away from the diamond instead of enhance it?? Will the dark color of the saphire make the center diamond look smaller?? I am considering this for my engagement ring so I''m asking for opinions, even though I still it would be lovely. I just don''t want to detract from my diamond instead of enhance it. Thanks!

Here are some pics I got off of PS that I have played with to compare...

Maybe it helps if you can see them side by side...

OMG I think it would look so fabulous - I love the look of these rings below on the FC website...!!!

Re: the sapphs making the diamond look smaller - I don''t think they would - I think they would make a more dramatic statement for the diamond. I would probably prong set my diamond above the sapphire halo though. This has nothing to do with the sapphs - it''s just that I found the prong setting made my diamond more of the showstopping centerpiece than the bezel setting did - it made my particular stone look smaller.

Yes, Firegoddess, I agree about the prong setting. I want my diamond to stand out and to me the bezel hides too much of it. Plus in this design maybe prongs would make it look more like an engagement ring?

WOW! I LOVE the saphire halo! It''s simply stunning!

OH. MY. WORD. I love it! I just love it.

I think it is a BEAUTIFUL idea, and one you would enjoy and cherish for years and years.

I have a friend who has gorgeous emerald accents in her e-ting, and every time I see that ring, and catch a glimpse of that little bit of glorious color, I just *swoon*!

I think the sapphires would make the center stone ''pop''. I love the example FireGoddess shows.

Thanks for your thoughts! I am seriously considering it. Now I just have to bring it up to my boyfriend! But hey, sapphires are less expensive than diamonds aren''t they?! ?

That''s a classic art deco design. I''ve always loved it.

Yes M'am!

Now, the custom setting at Fay's sound like a good idea, but ...

Hopefully they just mixed up the pictures for the website with something else... The ring (Link to source page) would have been quite nice, bar the broken piercing on the undercarriage and the sunk sapphires at 1 o'clock

Hi sunkist,

I think the sapphire halo is drool-worthy. I have been coveting one of Fay''s rings for some time

Is it Patty who has the stunning three stone diamond and sapphire? If the halos make the diamond POP like on her ring, you are on to a sure fire winner

WOW!!! That is one heck of a striking ring sunkist, it''s absolutely GORGEOUS. Ice blue and ice white, what a perfect combination. I''d love it for myself! Hey, it''s got me thinking about a pendant or diamond studs... you''re a bad influence!!!

I think a sapphire halo around a diamond would look gorgeous! I love diamonds and sapphires together, but I admit I''m slightly biased since that''s what I have.

I think the sapphire halo would be goreous and really emphasize the diamond in a very "look at me" way.

But then again, I adore sapphires.

Best of luck, both choices are gorgeous.

Thanks to everyone! I''m glad the design is getting good reviews

Minimouse I think a pendant like this would be divine!!

Valeria I too am concerned about those pictures you posted. I would totally order a ring from Fay Cullen to be a RHR, and I know a lot of her rings are even made out of platinum, but I am concerned about it holding up to every-single-day-of-my-life wear. Some of the bands are very thin and I absolutely adore that look, but I have had rings break before... If I do have a ring made with a sapphire halo I think I''ll have WF do it. I hope this is smart!

I agree with everyone else. A sapphire halow will make that diamond pop. Love Faye Cullen, Yummm.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the sapphire halo. Very pretty and very unique.

I love love love sapphire side stones and halos.
Id avoid that faycullen setting like the plague however besides the problems val pointed out it looks awefull thin and flimsy.
For the price the quality level should be much much higher.

A sapphire halo is a great idea! It'll really make the stone pop. I think you should go for it.

I posted pics of my rings a while ago. I''m not very good with a digital camera, so the pics didn''t come out too well. But anyway, here''s the link:

Here ya go DS2006...from Wink''s site.

OH MY..Wink''s ring looks Gorgeous

Thanks, FG!

I believe I''d be calling Wink....bet the quality is good and the diamond could be prong set, too!

I would absolutely be calling Wink for a custom setting before calling FC...of course, I''m biased because I''ve had nothing but positive experiences from Wink. I''m also a little peeved at FC right now - I ordered an item off their webpage and when I got sent an invoice, it was for TWICE the listed price. I balked and they said, "Oops, the website was wrong." I know it happens, but that really ticked me off. I do like their stuff more for vintage-like pieces...while the designs are stunning, the defects, like the ones Ana posted, would turn me away from a custom job. Ya gotta just love their stuff for the vintage aspect. But if you''re even thinking about Wink - he''s top notch!
