Hi Everyone...I posted on here once before with help on a diamond and thanks to all of you, I was able to figure out that it wasnt the best diamond...I have now come across another one and would really appreciate any input. I am most nervous about the S12 clarity, but if I go in person to see the diamond and there are no inclusions visible, would this be a good diamond?

Can you post the crown and pavilion angles please? The star and lower girdle facet percentages would be good too, if you can't get this info from the report see if you can get the report number and we might be able to look it up for you.
 
I think there is only one AGS graded stone in the database that fits those specs. OP, aAdd it to the cart or otherwise hold it until you can go look. You can look up the AGS report online and get more info but not an inclusions plot.

I just traded one SI2 diamond in on a larger and higher quality one that's also SI2. In real life, diamonds have dust and hair spray and whatever on then, lol. If there's a speck in the stone, it doesn't usually bother me. I'll trade clarity fur cut, color, and size. I also have VVS1 and I2 diamonds. Inclusions vary, ans some hide better than others. I'd rather have a stone one withe only or two than one with many smaller ones scattered throughout.
 
RIght now, I am unable to get those specs, as my computer is having difficulty when looking it up. this is the cert number from AGS - 10305801.

With SI2, the inclusion plot and a visual inspection of light performance against other comparable stones is crucial. Simply being told that it is eye clean and sparkly is not enough.
Consider it to be like looking through rain (crystal inclusions) and mist (cloud inclusions). Sometimes the smaller particles - while being individually invisible - are so dense that they are worse than less numerous but larger particles. If the stone has large, numerous clouds, they will reduce the light return and make it hazy. Twinning wisps can resemble sheets of clouds between the twinned diamond crystals - and I see that twinning wisps feature in the inclusions.
It seems as if SI2's with just a few inclusions are often not eye clean because the individual inclusions are larger, whereas with a moderate or larger number of inclusions, the inclusions are often smaller and less visible.

Personally, I usually draw the line at VS2, but might venture to SI1 for the right stone or to match-up a pair or group of similar stones. For me to entertain an SI2 would require the stone to be special in many ways.
 

The stats you've put up so far hold a great deal of promise, but as Lorelei said, more information is needed to get a better sense for the make of the stone.


You mentioned it's an AGS stone, but didn't mention if the stone has a cut grade. This would be helpful to know as well. Also, which AGS report is issued for the stone?


Beyond that, the crown/pavilion facets relationship has significant bearing on the cut, so that information would be helpful as well.


Regarding the clarity, if it's eyeclean to you in person, I wouldn't worry about the SI2 label.

Allison, the reportcheck link is for a DQD report, cut grade AGS0.
