Re: Russian? gold & diamond ring from estate - 2nd try

Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this forum & hope this is relevant. I recently purchased a gold & diamond ring that I believe is Russian. I've spent a lot of time online trying to interpret the marks without success & am hoping for some help. Thanks for looking!
Best,
Nancy

The star symbol coupled with the 583 is clearly of Russian origin. I cannot quite tell from the picture but is it 14K rose gold? I believe the other set of hallmark to be the maker's stamp, which unfortunately, I do not know who it is.

Hi, Thanks, you've confirmed for me that it's Russian. Yes, it is 14K pink gold. Do you know of a source where I can determine age from the other marks?
Nancy

I squinted really hard and think the little symbol to the lower left of the Soviet star with the hammer and sickle and 583 is the assay office mark, which is the Cyrillic letter El for St. Petersburg. Age-wise, I would put it before the collapse of the Soviet Union, because that is when they changed the hallmark from 583 to 585.

Hi, Thanks so much for taking the time to help me with this ring, it is very much appreciated! The info you've provided is extremely helpful.
Warm regards,
Nancy
