Thank you all for your kind comments. I'm going to attempt again to upload some pics. I think it's actually working! The last pic is the one I was referring to in my initial post. It looks like a dead brown, but it's a dark saturated red IRL. At first, I was disappointed at the darkness, but then I reminded myself that it's unrealistic to expect a gem to perform perfectly in all lighting!

I love those comparison pics! You're ruby looks crazy bright and so saturated. Actually, I still like it in the low light pics. I understand the unrealistic expectations though (I bet we're all guilty of it).
