I finally got inspired and made a ring tonight.
This stone is Royston turquoise from Nevada.
I took some photos of the process.

How satisfying this has got to be for you, to express your creativity in such a personally meaningful manner. Your talents are so impressive. You did this stone proud! Is Royston one of the more durable forms of turquoise?

Thank you! I love the blue-green of this variety.
I believe that Royston is a hard stone.

Since I had posted in the deleted thread, I wanted to mention again how GORGEOUS this piece is!! Such clean workmanship. When can I send you my turq to be set? :twisted2:

Thanks @Autumn in New England!
I saw a similar piece on IG, and decided to give this setting style a whirl.
I try to be very neat, precise and careful with the solder. Less is more!
I learned this all the hard way!

You shouldn't trust me to set your stones,
I might forget to send them back.....:lol-2:

 I love it!

I have a strong appreciation for the "neatness" you mention. It's clear that your execution is impeccable. People pay big money for that, my friend!

Oh wow. Your finishes are impeccable. Congrats on a gorgeous ring! :D

When creating a piece like this completely by hand, there is no way to make it absolutely perfect. I get as close as I can. You also have to know when to stop. Sometimes when you try to correct a small imperfection, you end up creating a much larger problem.
One slip of the file, and a minute ding becomes a horrible gash!

I can imagine! :eek2: But perfection is boring anyway. Your pieces are clean, but still have personality!!
