it was HM's birthday yesterday
Princess Catherine took this picture

We know that Queen Camilla doesn't have pierced ears and thus wears clip on earrings.
Another royal lady who hasn't had her ears pierced, I think, is Princess Benedikte of Denmark, who wore a lovely pair at the Freemason Order concert yesterday.

sorry not posted in order (my bad) but its from a Daily Mail story

Charles sat between the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret and bore a glum look on his face because of the 'gunge' that was used to flatten his hair.

Anne was deemed to be too young to attend and remained at the Palace.

Seated in the Abbey between his grandmother and aunt, Charles was seen resting his head on a closed fist.

Decades later, Charles told his biographer that he was upset because the Palace barber cut his hair too short and plastered it to his head 'with the most appalling gunge.'

Lady Moyra Campbell, one of the Queen's six ladies in waiting, later revealed that the 'gunge' was Prince Philip's hair lotion.

The Daily Mail reported at the time: 'At first his chin and hands rested on the balustrade, but in spite of this uncomfortable posture he took a lively interest in the events around him and made frequent comments to the Queen Mother.

'She then put him on a stool so that he could get a better view.'

The Queen Mother also 'kept smiling and bending to him' as the young prince pointed in the direction of his father

HM Queen Camila has had her coat of arms updated ahead of the corination
wire-70103019-1682100601-845_634x509.jpg

The Queen Consort’s coat of arms has been updated to reflect her husband becoming King.

Camilla’s coat of arms was first granted by the late Queen in 2005 to mark her 58th birthday that year, but now has new elements befitting the wife of the monarch.

The College of Arms outlined the changes in its April newsletter: “At Buckingham Palace on February 21, His Majesty The King granted arms to Her Majesty Queen Camilla by Warrant.

“This is the first grant of arms made by His Majesty.”
The design was originally an amalgamation of her father Major Bruce Shand’s arms and those of Charles when Prince of Wales.

But gone are elements that show Charles was heir to the throne, coronets have been replaced by crowns and the Prince of Wales’ coat of arms, featured alongside Major Shand’s arms on a central shield, has been superseded by the sovereign’s arms.

The central shield is flanked on the left by a Royal lion supporter from Charles’ arms and on the right by a boar taken from the arms of Camilla’s father.

Plain white “labels” of three points denoting Charles was the heir throne have been removed and the large coronet above the shield and one worn by the royal lion are now crowns.

The new coat of arms will feature on the formal invitations being sent to around 2,000 coronation guests.

Beefeaters at the Tower of London get new coats bearing King Charles' initials ahead of
Officially named Yeoman Warders of the Tower of London, the guards have worn the monarch's initials on their breast since 1570, when Elizabeth I was on the throne - and now, with a new King, they need new coats.

I decided against the official coronation china (I did fancy a coffee mug), and purchased a couple of coronation coins instead from Royal Mint.

I would have opted for a small gold coin too, however, that flew out of the window as soon as they were released and I missed the boat. :confused2:

im watching this

but ill find something shortly

My Mother has a Coronation trinket collection starting with Queen Victoria which has been passed down from her family. I want to buy her something for the upcoming King’s Coronation and after looking at Harrods, Fortnum & Mason, Marks & Spencer etc;
So far this is the only commemorative item I like - https://www.fortnumandmason.com/fortnums-coronation-commemorative-two-handled-cup
Apologies if this is inappropriate for the thread, are there nicer commemorative trinkets available?
This is more in keeping with her style; https://www.annoushka.com/au/18ct-y...&ransiteID=TnL5HPStwNw-D4rYllL8HUBSzgUdGt7iXw

oh those are lovely
i hope your mum would love the cup

lucky for me royal souviners come in all budgets
i have a small Coleman's mustard jar from Edward vii's corrination and a glass milk jug from Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee

and while its not strickly within the rules, the corination is a once in a lifetime event for a lot of us and this is a friendlier more pro-royal place than the corination watching thread in hangout

I can imagine Camilla's attendants - her sister Annabel and Lady Lansdowne - wearing a similar headdress at the Coronation.
