They started announcing Nobel Prizes today!

Any word on if we get the real ceremony this year??

And yes, I'm wearing a tiara to school today to mark the Nobel Announcements...

Trials and tribulations ...

Today is a dress up theme day at my school. It is "Dress like a Celebrity." I am the Duchess of Cambridge...I've got replica wedding earrings and a ring, but I'm wearing my own gown and tiara.

I did make a sash to imitate the Royal Victorian Order. When I got to school, I realized I forgot a brooch to secure it.

:eek-2::eek-2::eek-2::eek-2:

I have a much deeper appreciation for the use of brooches to secure sashes. This thing is sliding all over the place. It is very annoying.

Students love it though....:)):)):))

while not an actual royal, the Governer general is the Queen's offical representative and NZ got a new one last week
saddly due to the pandemic HM and Dane Cindy had to make do with a chat over zoom not a meeting in person at BP
but check out the brooch!

Royal wedding of the year number my-legs-hurt-from-all-this-dancing

Prince Philippos of Greece and Denmark married religiously Nina Flohr at the Metropolitan Cathedral in Athens yesterday. The couple were married in a civil ceremony last December in St. Moritz.
The wedding, the first to be held in Greece since the fall of the monarchy, was attended by 100 close family and friends. The Greek Royal Family was out in full force led by King Constantine II and Queen Anne-Marie and their children. Foreign royals at the wedding included Queen Sofia of Spain and Princess Benedikte of Denmark (aunts of the groom), and members of the House of Hanover (his paternal grandmother was born von Hanover) and Windsor (Beatrice and Eugenie with their husbands).

Princess Nina wore the Antique Corsage tiara, an 18th birthday present to Queen Anne-Marie from her parents, and a modern pearl and diamond bracelet.

PPE21102322.jpg

Queen Anne-Marie wore classic pearls and diamonds, including the diamond cross she wore at her own wedding in the same cathedral and a large sapphire cocktail ring. Uncle Tino, who uses a wheelchair these days, made a special effort to stand up and greet the officiating priest at the door and kiss the icon. It was really touching in the live stream!

Most of the ladies wore minimal jewels. Crown Princess Marie-Chantal wore diamond cluster earrings and a (JAR?) bracelet. Princess Theodora wore her long peal pendant earrings.

gettyimages-1348282834-2048x2048~2.jpg

Queen Sofia honoured her late mother wearing her Ruby pendant suspended from a string of mouth-watering pearls. She also had a simple gold bracelet adorned with a large cabochon ruby.

Princess Benedikte was my favourite in her lovely diamonds and pearls. The brooches come from her grandmother Queen Alexandrine and are usually worn as the side pieces of a floral tiara (another birthday gift from Queen Ingrid)
gettyimages-1348282827-2048x2048~2.jpg

Infanta Elena wore one of her multicoloured gem-set necklaces and matching bracelet.
PPE211023235.jpg

The groom's other cousin Princess Alexandra attended with her new husband Count Michael Ahlefeldt-Laurvig-Bille. She wore the large antique sapphire brooch from Princess Thyra of Denmark and diamond earrings from her husband's collection.

The rest of the royal ladies wore jewels of little interest for this topic.

My only quibble with Princess Nina's gown is the odd half bow in front. Take that off then I am totally on board. I've always has a soft spot for the Antique Corsage Tiara.

Have we seen that tiara before? Looks like a sister of the Lannoy tiara.

Ha! Yes, I can see the Lannoy similarities now that you mention it.

Yes, this one has been in the rotation. I wore it when I was doing "Tiara Teaching" during the pandemic.

Not a royal jewel, yet a royal jewel!

Yesterday Queen Margrethe II gave a press conference on the ballet 'The Snow Queen', of which she is the costume director.

Note HM's expression as she looked the Snow Queen's tiara! I bet she wanted to rty it on! Or she has already?

Last week The Duchess of Cornwall hosted a reception for the winners in The Queen's Commonwealth Essay Competition 2021.
HRH chose a new-to-us brooch, which probably comes from Faberge!
The narrow brooch has an arrow piercing two entwined hearts on lavender guilloché enamel and a diamond-set frame.
The Duchess also wore her new favourites - the Kiki blue topaz pendant and the Kiwi necklace.

So many state visits going on! Netherlands went to Norway (that state banquet had many tiaras...sapphires, emeralds, diamonds, and amethysts) and Denmark to Germany (diamonds and pearls)! So happy these types of events are back on the books

Lady Maria is right, I can't even keep up with the various State Visits this week. And there are more coming soon!

I'll start with the NO-NL State Visit and the jewels worth mentioning.
Queen Maxima wore her beautiful emerald earrings for the welcoming ceremony and the events during the first day. She also had the gorgeous emerald butterfly brooch at her waist.
gettyimages-1352293871-2048x2048.jpg
1636651432415.png

As Lady Maria said, the State Banquet saw a variety of colourful gemstones.
Queen Maxima opted for the imposing sapphire tiara and bracelets. Her earrings were made in the 1960's for Princess Beatrix, while the brooch is a composite between a vintage brooch and a tanzanite pendant.
gettyimages-1236465111-2048x2048.jpg
1636651694878.png

Queen Sonja was resplendent in the Napoleonic emerald parure.
1636651758331.png

The Crown Princess wore her diamond bandeau and large daisy earrings with pearl drops.
gettyimages-1236463447-2048x2048.jpg

MM also had a surprise - she wore the bracelet created with Queen Maud's badge of the Order of Victoria and Albert.
1636652143602.png

Princess Märtha Louise wore the amethyst tiara and a necklace and earrings set with amethysts and aquamarines from her mother's collection.
gettyimages-1236463288-2048x2048.jpg

On the second evening the Dutch Royal Couple hosed a concert at the renovated Munch museum. Queen Maxama wore a pair of large diamond studs (from Queen Wilhelmina).

Queen Margrethe II took Crown Prince Frederik on a trip to neighbouring Germany. The German President and First Lady hosted a (black-tie) dinner for their Danish guests. The Queen dazzled in her majestic pearl and diamond parure and a queenly green lace gown.

As she entered the Palace, the Queen apparently lost one of the pearl drops from the brooch... 1636653271421.png

Tonight, The Queen and Crown Prince hosted a return event at the Deutsches Historisches Museum in Berlin.
The Queen wore another jewel with German origins - the Baden Palmette tiara. She also wore the Oranje riviere and antique diamond drop earrings and bow brooch.
Not a great pic, but please take a look at the giant solitaire on her right hand!
